Ccd photometry and time series analysis of v2275 cyg and rw umi using data from the TUBITAK national observatory
Yılmaz, Mustafa Arda; Balman, Şölen; Department of Physics (2004)
In this work, we analyze the data from 1.5 m telescope of Tubitak National Observatory (TUG) for two objects V2275 Cyg and RW UMi. After applying aperture and PSF photometry to the CCD data, we derive the light curve of the objects. Also we apply discrete Fourier transform and Scargle time series analysis to obtain power spectrum and search for periodicities in their power spectra in which both systems show interesting properties. We discover large variations in V2275 Cyg due to irradiation effects on the s...
Camera trapping large mammals in yenice forest habitats : a feasibility study for camera trapping large mammals in Yenice Forests, Turkey
Can, Özgün Emre; Togan, İnci Zehra; Department of Biology (2008)
Widely applicable, quantitative field methods are needed to gather wildlife data for conservation and management initiatives in Turkey. In order to evaluate the use of camera traps in forest habitats of Turkey, we conducted a 5 phase camera trap survey by using 16 passive infrared-triggered cameras with a total sampling effort of 1200 camera trap days in Yaylacık Research Forest, a 50 km2 forest patch of Yenice Forest in Karabük during January-May 2006. The camera trap survey confirmed the presence of grey ...
CCD photometry of V2275 Cygni (N Cyg 2001 No.2) in 2002-2003
Balman, Şölen; Yilmaz, A; Retter, A; Saygac, T; Esenoglu, H (2004-07-16)
We present the CCD photometry, light curve and time series analysis of the classical nova V2275 Cyg. The source is observed for 14 nights in total using standard R filters in 2002 and 2003 with the 1.5m Russian-Turkish joint telescope (RTT150) at the TUBITAK National Observatory (TUG) in Antalya Turkey. We report the detection of two periodicities in the light curve of the nova : a) P-1=0.31449(15) d, b) P-2=0.017079(17) d. We propose that the first period is the orbital period of the system as a result of ...
Photo-transferred luminescence from BeO ceramics
Bulur, Enver (2007-03-01)
Temperature and radiation dose dependences of the thermoluminescence, photo-transferred luminescence signals from BeO ceramics were investigated using blue-green stimulation (420-550 nm). Several deep traps that act as sources for the photo-transferred luminescence signals, located in 400-625 degrees C region of the TL glow curve, were distinguished.
Global Binary Patterns: A Novel Shape Descriptor
Erdal, Sivri; Kalkan, Sinan (null; 2013-05-23)
In this paper, we propose a novel shape descriptor, called Global Binary Patterns (GBP), based on interpreting intensity values along a direction in an image as binary numbers, converting these binary numbers to their decimal values and concatenating these decimal values as the elements of a vector that is the GBP representation of the shape. Comparing with some widelyused state-of-the-art methods in the literature, we show that GBP is very fast and its performance on several widely-used databases is compar...
