Synthesis and characterization of toluene diisocyanate
Hisar Telli, Ayşegül; Doğan, Özdemir; Department of Chemistry (2014)
Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) is one of the important components of solid rocket propellants. It is used for the construction of polyurethane network by reacting with hydroxy terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and functions as a curing agent. The aim of project, supported by Ministry of Science Industry and Technology under SANTEZ program in collaboration with ROKETSAN, is to synthesize TDI at laboratory scale by determining the best method/methods that give the product in high yield with desired isomer ratio and...
Synthesis and characterization of polybenzoxazine
Efe, Tuğba; Tinçer, Teoman; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2009)
A new method for polybenzoxazine synthesis was developed and carried out throughout this work. Bisphenol-A, hexamethylenediamine, and paraformaldehyde were reacted through Mannich condensation reaction forming polybenzoxazine precursors. The reaction was followed by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) as a molecular weight determination method in order to decide the end of reaction. The synthesized product, polybenzoxazine precursors, was polymerized thermally. Polybenzoxazine precursors were also character...
Synthesis and characterization of fluorine-substituted polyanilines
Cihaner, A; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Elsevier BV, 2001-09-01)
Poly(2-fluoroaniline), P2FAN, poly(3-fluoroaniline). P3FAN. and poly(4-fluoroaniline), P4FAN, have been synthesized from fluorine substituted aniline monomers in aqueous acidic medium using potassium dichromate as oxidizing agent. Characterization of polymer products has been carried out using FTIR, and NMR spectroscopic techniques. Thermal analysis of polyfluoroaniline powders was also investigated using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. To compare the structural properties ...
Synthesis and characterization of tetracarbonylpyrazinetrimethylphosphitetungsten (0) complexes
Alper, Fatma; Özkar, Saim; Department of Chemistry (2004)
In this study, the effect of a donor ligand on the stabilization of a carbonyl pyrazine tungsten complex was studied. The pentacarbonylpyrazinetungsten(0) complex could be formed from the photolysis of hexacarbonyltungsten(0) in the presence of pyrazine and could be isolated as crystalline solid. However, the complex was found to be unstable in solution, being converted to a bimetallic complex, (CO)5W(pyz)W(CO)5 and free pyrazine molecule. Two complexes exist in solution at equilibrium. The equilibrium cons...
Synthesis and Characterization of Surface Modified Fullerene
Kanbur, Yasin; Kucukyavuz, Zuhal (2012-01-01)
Fullerenes were chemically functionalized by using sulphuric acid and nitric acid. The functionalization was done with two different acid ratio. The functionalized nanotubes were characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photonelectron spectroscopy (XPS), elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Sulfonation of fullerene increased the electrical conductivity of fullerenes up to 0.027 S/cm. TEM micrographs showed that sulfon...
