Supply function equilibria for uniform price auction in oligopolistic markets
Vasin, Alexander; Dolmatova, Marina; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm (2016-12-01)
We consider game-theoretic models related to the supply function auction for electricity markets. We determine the set of supply function equilibria (SFE), introduced by Klemperer and Mayer (Econometrica 57:1243-1277, 1989), for a symmetric oligopoly with linear demand, fixed marginal cost and capacity constraint. This set depends on the maximum random shock of the demand function. We also study the best response dynamics and show that in general it does not converge to any SFE. We find out sufficient condi...
Load curve classification for the evaluation of demand side management programs
Yumak, K.; Tosun, G.; Varlik, B.; Bağrıyanık, Mustafa (2016-09-25)
The demand side management of electrical power systems is an issue of growing concern. In this study, annual load curves those have been obtained by field measurements on MV (31.5kV) feeders in an electricity distribution company in Turkey have been studied. Feeders supplying different type of customers (Agricultural irrigation, Commercial & Industrial and Residential) are classified through Peak and Night Ratio for the assessment of convenient incentive or price based methods. Statistical parameters, such ...

Demand following or supply leading? A panel data analysis for developed, developing, and less developed countries
Akıncı, Gönül Yüce; Akıncı, Merter; Yılmaz, Ömer (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2013-12-1)
In this paper, the linkages between financial development and economic growth in developed, developing and less developed countries are investigated using unbalanced panel cointegration and causality analysis in the period of 1980 – 2011. The results of the Pedroni cointegration analysis show the existence of cointegration relations between financial development and economic growth for whole country groups, but Kao cointegration analysis indicates the long – run relationship between the related variables fo...
Inventory control under substitutable demand: A stochastic game application
Avşar, Zeynep Müge (Wiley, 2002-06-01)
Substitutable product inventory problem is analyzed using the concepts of stochastic game theory. It is assumed that there are two substitutable products that are sold by different retailers and the demand for each product is random. Game theoretic nature of this problem is the result of substitution between products. Since retailers compete for the substitutable demand, ordering decision of each retailer depends on the ordering decision of the other retailer. Under the discounted payoff criterion, this pro...
