Density-Aware Probabilistic Clustering in Ad Hoc Networks
Ergenç, Doǧanalp; Eksert, Levent; Onur, Ertan (2018-06-07)
Clustering makes an ad hoc network scalable forming easy-to-manage local groups. However, it brings an extra control overhead to create and maintain clustered network topology. In this paper, we propose Probabilistic Clustering Algorithm that is a simple and efficient clustering algorithm with minimal overhead. In this algorithm, cluster heads are determined probabilistically in a distributed fashion. An analytic model is introduced for nodes to compute the probability of declaring themselves as cluster hea...
Dynamic lead time quotation under responsive inventory and multiple customer classes
Savaşaneril Tüfekci, Seçil; Sayin, Ece (2017-01-01)
We address the lead time quotation problem of a manufacturer serving multiple customer classes. Customers are sensitive to the quoted lead times and the manufacturer has the flexibility to keep inventory to improve responsiveness. We model the problem as a Markov decision process and characterize the optimal lead time quotation, rationing, and production policies. We then define internal and external service level measures and analyze the impact of inventory keeping decision on these measures. Before analyz...
Attribute-based variability in feature models
Karatas, Ahmet Serkan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2016-06-01)
Extended feature models enable the expression of complex cross-tree constraints involving feature attributes. The inclusion of attributes in cross-tree relations not only enriches the constraints, but also engenders an extended type of variability that involves attributes. In this article, we elaborate on the effects of this new variability type on feature models. We start by analyzing the nature of the variability involving attributes and extend the definitions of the configuration and the product to suit ...
Maximum-Weight Scheduling with Hierarchical Modulation
Yalcin, Ahmet Zahid; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda; Onat, Furuzan Atay; Aktas, Defne; Numanoglu, Tolga; Kolagasioglu, Ahmet Ertugrul (2014-01-01)
In this paper, hierarchical modulation is used in conjunction with maximum-weight scheduling to achieve lower transmission delays. Via hierarchical modulation, the scheduled user has the option to transmit to two users simultaneously. The results are compared with classical single-layered transmission. Simulation results show that packet transmission delays are lowered without any loss in throughput. In addition to this, it is demonstrated that hierarchical modulation is robust in point-to-point settings, a...
Max-Min Fair Resource Allocation for SWIPT in Multi-Group Multicast OFDM Systems
DEMİR, ÖZLEM TUĞFE; Tuncer, Temel Engin (2017-11-01)
Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer is considered for multi-group multicasting OFDM systems. Each user has the energy harvesting capability through a power splitter (PS). The power and subcarrier allocation at the base station is done such that the minimum signal-to-noise ratio among the users for each subcarrier is maximized while user needs for harvested power are satisfied. The optimization of PS ratios in addition to resource allocation is realized in a joint manner. It is shown that th...
