Analysis of genetic relationships among perennial and annual Cicer species growing in Turkey using RAPD markers
Sudupak, MA; Akkaya, Mahinur; Kence, A (2002-12-01)
Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) fragments were used to assess genetic relationships among Cicer spp. growing in Turkey. Seven 10-mer primers selected from a 50 random oligonucleotide primer set, depending on their ability to amplify genomic DNA in all species, were used to detect RAPD variation in 43 wild and cultivated accessions representing ten species. These primers yielded 95 reproducible amplification products, 92 of which were polymorphic. Pairwise, genetic distances of accessions estimated ac...
Analysis of genetic relationships among perennial and annual cicer species growing in Turkey using allozyme and dna polymorphims

Analysis of protein and mRNA expressions of CYP1A1, CYP2E1, NQO1 and GST enzymes in liver, colon and prostate cancer cell lines to study drug and carcinogen metabolism
Evin, Emre; Adalı, Orhan; Karakurt, Serdar; Department of Biochemistry (2014)
Xenobiotic metabolism is the combination of phase I and phase II reactions which are named as modification and conjugation reactions, respectively. Most of the marketed drugs are metabolized by Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) known as phase I enzymes. CYP1A1 and CYP2E1 enzymes play role in activation/inactivation of many drugs and carcinogens. Phase II enzymes including NQO1 and GSTP1 are important for the elimination of toxic metabolites by reduction and conjugation reactions, respectively. Since in vitro studies ...
ANALYSIS OF PLASMIDS MEDIATING ANT (2'') AND AAC(3)-II BASED GENTAMICIN RESISTANCE IN CLINICAL ISOLATES OF ENTEROBACTERIACEAE
Kocabıyık, Semra (Elsevier BV, 1989-07-01)
The genetics of ANT(2″) and AAC(3)-II mediated gentamicin resistance in Gram-negative bacteria obtained from Hacettepe University Hospital in Turkey, was studied. The plasmid DNA analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis revealed a heterogeneous plasmid population. Conjugal transfer appeared to be an efficient mechanism for the dissemination of resistance to gentamicin/tobramycin/kanamycin/streptomycin/chloramphenicol/cephalothin, which was the common resistance pattern in the population. Plasmids of 46, 60, ...
Analysis of self-processing mechanism of galactose oxidase by site-directed mutagenesis and heterologous expression in Escherichia Coli
Gençer, Burçak; Ögel, Zümrüt Begüm; Department of Biotechnology (2005)
In this study, self-catalytic maturation of heterologously expressed pro-galactose oxidase was analysed in E.coli by altering some amino acids which were supposed to play a crucial role in pro-peptide removal. Galactose oxidase (GOase; EC 1.1.3.9) from Fusarium graminearum; having a molecular mass of 68kDa, is a monomeric, copper containing enzyme with an unusual thioether bond. The enzyme is produced as a precursor with an additional 8 amino acid pre- and a 17- amino acid pro-sequence at the N terminus. Pr...
