The hazard function plays an important role in reliability and survival analysis. In some real life applications, changes in the hazard function may be observed and it is of interest to detect the location and the size of the change. In this study we consider hazard models with a single change-point when the observations are subject to random truncation, where the observation of variable X of interest representing the lifetime can be prevented by another independent random variable Y. For a piecewise constant hazard function with a single change- point, we consider an estimation procedure based on the maximum likelihood ideas. We also consider a generalization of the model mentioned above, the piecewise linear hazard model with a single change-point. We present the results of a simulation study to illustrate the performance of the proposed estimators. An application to a real data set is also considered.

Estimation methods for the three-parameter gamma distribution
İçli, Tülay; Yıldırım, Fetih; Department of Statistics (1991)
As a positively skewed distribution, gamma distribution plays an important role in the analysis of sample data originating from life-span, reaction time, reliability, | survival and related studies. Therefore, it is worth-while to deal with the estimation of its parameters. Since gamma distribution does not satisfy some of the regularity conditions, it is a member of non-regular distributions. Inclusion of the threshold parameter creates complications. This parameter can be estimated by the first order stat...
Estimation of predictive hydrologic uncertainty using the quantile regression and UNEEC methods and their comparison on contrasting catchments
Dogulu, N.; López López, P.; Solomatine, D. P.; Weerts, A. H.; Shrestha, D. L. (Copernicus GmbH, 2015-7-23)
In operational hydrology, estimation of the predictive uncertainty of hydrological models used for flood modelling is essential for risk-based decision making for flood warning and emergency management. In the literature, there exists a variety of methods analysing and predicting uncertainty. However, studies devoted to comparing the performance of the methods in predicting uncertainty are limited. This paper focuses on the methods predicting model residual uncertainty that differ in methodological complexi...
GIS based seismic hazard mapping of Turkey
Yunatcı, Ali Anıl; Çetin, Kemal Önder; Rojay, Fuat Bora; Department of Civil Engineering (2010)
Efficiency of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis mainly depends on the individual successes of its complementing components; such as source characterization and ground motion intensity prediction. This study contributes to major components of the seismic hazard workflow including magnitude – rupture dimension scaling relationships, and ground motion intensity prediction. The study includes revised independent models for predicting rupture dimensions in shallow crustal zones, accompanied by proposals for ...
Optimization of reward shaping function based on genetic algorithm applied to a cross validated deep deterministic policy gradient in a powered landing guidance problem
Nugroho, Larasmoyo; Andiarti, Rika; Akmeliawati, Rini; Kutay, Ali Türker; Larasati, Diva Kartika; Wijaya, Sastra Kusuma (2023-04-01)
One major capability of a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) agent to control a specific vehicle in an environment without any prior knowledge is decision-making based on a well-designed reward shaping function. An important but little-studied major factor that can alter significantly the training reward score and performance outcomes is the reward shaping function. To maximize the control efficacy of a DRL algorithm, an optimized reward shaping function and a solid hyperparameter combination are essential. ...
Performance analysis of open-source DEMs in tsunami inundation modelling
Tüfekçi Enginar, Duygu; Dogan, Gozde Guney; Süzen, Mehmet Lütfi; Yalçıner, Ahmet Cevdet (2022-08-01)
In natural hazard modeling, underestimation is not acceptable, since it will produce unreliable and inadequate information for decision makers to work on during hazard mitigation planning. Including tsunami inundation modeling, result of the natural hazard models is highly sensitive to the accuracy of input data. High resolution elevation data, such as light detection and ranging (LiDAR) Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) can provide modeling results that are closer to the reality. However, gathering such high...
