Higher dimensional metrics of colliding gravitational plane waves
Gurses, M; Kahya, EO; Karasu, Atalay (2002-07-15)
We give a higher even dimensional extension of vacuum colliding gravitational plane waves with the combinations of collinear and noncollinear polarized four-dimensional metrics. The singularity structure of space-time depends on the parameters of the solution.
Higher Order Rotor Slot Harmonics for Rotor Speed & Position Estimation
Keysan, Ozan; Ertan, Hulusi Bülent (2010-05-21)
Air-gap flux of all electrical machines contains harmonics. Some of these harmonics stem from rotor slotting of the machine. These harmonics can be utilized for control or diagnostic purposes. In the literature, rotor slot harmonics are mostly utilized for condition monitoring. There is also some research utilizing them for rotor speed estimation. However, it is observed that in the existing work spectral analysis techniques are employed which require long samples of data and in this from they are not suita...
Higher order approximate dynamic models for layered composites
Yalcin, Omer Fatih; Mengi, Yalcin; Turhan, Dogan (Elsevier BV, 2007-05-01)
Based on a higher order dynamic approximate theory developed in the present study for anisotropic elastic plates, two dynamic models, discrete and continuum models (DM and CM), are proposed for layered composites. Of the two models, CM is more important, which is established in the study of periodic layered composites using smoothing operations. CM has the properties: it contains inherently the interface and Floquet conditions and facilitates the analysis of the. composite, in particular, when the number of...
Higher order levelable mrf energy minimization via graph cuts
Karcı, Mehmet Haydar; Demirekler, Mübeccel; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
A feature of minimizing images of a class of binary Markov random field energies is introduced and proved. Using this, the collection of minimizing images of levels of higher order, levelable MRF energies is shown to be a monotone collection. This implies that these images can be combined to give minimizing images of the MRF energy itself. Due to the recent developments, second and third order binary MRF energies of the mentioned class are known to be exactly minimized by maximum flow/minimum cut computatio...
HIGHER-DERIVATIVE EFFECTIVE YANG-MILLS THEORY AND STATIC SPHERICALLY SYMMETRICAL FIELD CONFIGURATIONS
BASKAL, S; DERELI, T (IOP Publishing, 1993-04-01)
The variational field equations and the covariantly conserved energy-momentum tensor of a higher-derivative effective Yang-Mills theory are given. A class of static spherically symmetric gauge field configurations that follow from the Wu-Yang ansatz is considered.
