Not quite black holes as dark matter
Aydemir, Ufuk; Holdom, Bob; Ren, Jing (2020-07-01)
Primordial black holes that survive until the present have been considered as a dark matter candidate. In this paper we argue that primordial 2-2-hole remnants provide a more promising and testable alternative. 2-2-holes arise in quadratic gravity as a new family of classical solutions for ultracompact matter distributions and they possess the black hole exterior without an event horizon. They may serve as the endpoint of gravitational collapse, providing a resolution for the information loss problem. Intri...

Not al-quds, but Damascus: Palestinian jihadists of Lebanon in the Syrian war (2011 –2017)
Çete, Erman; Göçer Akder, Derya; Department of Middle East Studies (2019)
Ongoing Syrian War is one of the most important historical event for both the Middle East and the world in recent history. Regional and international powers with their proxies has shaped not only Syrian politics, economy, and international relations, but also neighbors of Syria, such as Turkey, Lebanon, and Iraq, and the roles of world powers such as the United States of America and Russia. The rise and threat of transnational jihadist organizations is one of the crucial consequences of the war, and foreign...
Barely transitive groups
Betin, Cansu; Kuzucuoğlu, Mahmut; Department of Mathematics (2007)
A group G is called a barely transitive group if it acts transitively and faithfully on an infinite set and every orbit of every proper subgroup is finite. A subgroup H of a group G is called a permutable subgroup, if H commutes with every subgroup of G. We showed that if an infinitely generated barely transitive group G has a permutable point stabilizer, then G is locally finite. We proved that if a barely transitive group G has an abelian point stabilizer H, then G is isomorphic to one of the followings: ...
Barely transitive groups
Kuzucuoğlu, Mahmut (2007-01-01)
This is a survey article on barely transitive groups. It also involves some recent results in the case of a non-locally finite barely transitive group.
