HPRNet: Hierarchical point regression for whole-body human pose estimation
SAMET, NERMİN; Akbaş, Emre (2021-11-01)
In this paper, we present a new bottom-up one-stage method for whole-body pose estimation, which we call “hierarchical point regression,” or HPRNet for short. In standard body pose estimation, the locations of ~17 major joints on the human body are estimated. Differently, in whole-body pose estimation, the locations of fine-grained keypoints (68 on face, 21 on each hand and 3 on each foot) are estimated as well, which creates a scale variance problem that needs to be addressed. To handle the scale variance ...
Synergy: A Web-Based Tool to Facilitate Dialogic Peer Feedback
Er, Erkan; Dimitriadis, Yannis; Gasevic, Dragan (2019-09-16)
The goal of this demonstration session is to introduce Synergy, a platform to help design and implement dialogic feedback practices. Synergy is grounded in a theoretical framework of dialogic feedback, which suggests an ongoing dialogue among the peers (providing feedback) and the target student (receiving feedback). Synergy allows instructors to create multiple review sessions with specific tasks depending on the role as feedback receiver or provider. Peer review activities are organized around three phase...
Livelms: a blended e-learning environment, a model proposition for integration of asynchronous and synchronous e-learning
Er, Erkan; Arifoğlu, Ali; Department of Information Systems (2009)
In distance education, lack of face-to-face communication prevents instructors from observing students’ activities efficiently, especially in crowded sessions, and consequently they fail to effectively assess the performance of distant learners. On the other hand, in spite of being physically distant, instructor should monitor students’ activities and assess their performance effectively so that learners can be informed as quickly as possible of how well they are doing. This thesis aims to develop an e-lear...

Metaheuristic algorithms based automated evaluation method for public investment projects
Yılmaz, Tüluğ Figen; Karagöz, Pınar; Department of Computer Engineering (2014)
The public investment projects are essential to improve the state economy prosperously and to improve life of people. In spite of high need for public investment projects, resources are limited. So, there has been increased requirement on the accountability and efficiency of the public investment projects. To overcome these issues, project performance evaluation systems are needed. Scientific and reasonable performance measurement can be utilized in these systems to evaluate public investment projects. A se...
