Diborane-tetraborane conversion in C-60 vesicles - a theoretical study
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2001-08-01)
Diborane-tetraborane conversion in a C-60 cage is theoretically considered by using AM1-RHF type semiempirical quantum chemical approach. Molecular orbital characteristics of some endohedrally boron hydride doped C-60 composite systems are investigated and the likeliness of diborane-tetraborane conversion in a C-60 vesicle for the purpose of hydrogen storage is discussed. Formaldehyde Selectivity in Methanol Partial Oxidation on Silver: Effect of Reactive Oxygen Species, Surface Reconstruction, and Stability of Intermediates
Karatok, Mustafa; Şensoy, Mehmet Gökhan; Vovk, Evgeny I.; Toffoli, Hande; Toffoli, Daniele; Ozensoy, Emrah (2021-01-01)
Selective oxidation reactions on heterogeneous silver catalysts are essential for the mass production of numerous industrial commodity chemicals. However, the nature of active oxygen species in such reactions is still debated. To shed light on the role of different oxygen species, we studied the methanol oxidation reaction on Ag(111) single-crystal model catalyst surfaces containing two dissimilar types of oxygen (electrophilic, Oe and nucleophilic, On). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and low energy elect...
Aryl butenoic acid derivatives as a new class of histone deacetylase inhibitors: synthesis, in vitro evaluation, and molecular docking studies
Esiyok, Peruze Ayhan; Seven, Ozlem; Eymur, Guluzar; Tatar, Gamze Bora; DAYANGAÇ ERDEN, DİDEM; YELEKÇİ, Kemal; YURTER, HAYAT; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, 2014-01-01)
New aryl butenoic acid derivatives have been synthesized by combining hydroxy- or methoxy-substituted phenyl rings as the capping group, with a double bond in the short linker as well as metal binding groups, enoic ester, and salts bearing either methyl or morpholine. These compounds have been shown to possess promising histone deacetylase inhibition activities via in vitro fluorometric assay and molecular docking studies.
Phonon mean free path in few layer, two-dimensional hexagonal structures
Gholivand, Hamed; Dönmezer, Nazlı; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2017)
Two-dimensional materials such as graphene and few layer hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN) have been the center of attention in the last decade. These materials provide anisotropic and exclusive properties making them ideal candidates for the modern electronic and optoelectronic applications. With the enhancements in fabrication techniques and the ability to separate thin layers their popularity is continuously increasing. Understanding the thermal properties of these materials is necessary to make better devi...
Isocyanate functionalization of nano-boehmite for the synthesis of polyurethane organic-inorganic hybrid materials
Eroğlu, Gülden; Gündüz, Güngör; Çolak, Üner; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2011)
In this study, organic-inorganic hybrid materials were prepared from polyurethane and boehmite. It was achieved by polymerizing monomers in the presence of functional nano-particles of boehmite with cyanate groups. The produced polyurethane organic-inorganic hybrid materials with enhanced mechanical properties were used for coating applications. Plate-like boehmite nano-particles were produced by hydrothermal process from aluminum hydroxide which was first ground in a high energy ball-mill, and then, proces...
