Effect of Li addition on the properties of Bi-based superconductors
Ogun, SE; Ozkan, H; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2003-06-01)
The effect of Li addition on the formation and properties of Pb containing Bi-based superconductors has been studied. Three successive thermal sintering cycles have been applied to the oxides adjusted for the nominal composition, Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2CaCu2O8+d. Eight different samples having Li2CO3 from 0.0 up to 3.0 weight% have been synthesized, X-ray diffraction patterns, resistivity-temperature behaviors and differential thermal analysis of the samples have been examined. Li2CO3 addition at 650degreesC decrease...
Effect of transition metal substitution on high-temperature properties of thermoelectric materials
Güneş, Murat; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Parlak, Mehmet; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2014)
The objective of the present dissertation is to improve the thermoelectric efficiency (ZT) of Ca3Co4O9 metal oxide with a focus on nanostructuring, porosity and elemental substitution altering the electrical and thermal transport properties at high temperature and to establish a unique high temperature Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity measurement system. An instrument for the high temperature measurement of Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity of one and/or two bulk samples over a te...
Effect of lithium doping on the properties of Tl-based superconductors
Kayed, TS; Ozkan, H; Hasanlı, Nızamı (IOP Publishing, 2001-09-01)
The effects of lithium doping on the formation and properties of the T1-based superconductors have been studied. Lithium atoms up to around 3 mol.% have been added to the oxides of nominal composition Tl1.8Ba2Ca2.2Cu3Ox, and the usual solid-state reaction method has been applied. Lithium additions in the range 0.23-0.29 mol.% increase the fraction of the Tl-2223 phase and significantly improve the critical temperature of the samples. Higher amounts of lithium additions diminish the Tl-2223 phase, reduce the...
Effect of temperature and irradiation on the properties of the bismuth-based superconductors
Hamdan, Nasser; Özkan, Hüsnü; Department of Physics (1993)
Effect of gamma irradiation on structure and electrical properties of (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 superconductor
Albiss, BA; Ozkan, H; Bocuk, H; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Ercan, I (1997-01-01)
Specimens of pure and Pb-doped high-T-c superconductors Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (BSCCO) were irradiated with gamma-rays up to an integrated dose of about 225 MR. The variations of normal state resistance, transition temperature, critical current and lattice parameters with gamma-irradiation were studied. The normal state resistance increases with increase of gamma-dose at zero applied magnetic field, whereas the transition temperature and the critical current decrease with the same gamma-dose. The intensities of th...
