Credit scoring methods and accuray ratio
İşcanoğlu, Ayşegül; Körezlioğlu, Hayri; Department of Financial Mathematics (2005)
The credit scoring with the help of classification techniques provides to take easy and quick decisions in lending. However, no definite consensus has been reached with regard to the best method for credit scoring and in what conditions the methods performs best. Although a huge range of classification techniques has been used in this area, the logistic regression has been seen an important tool and used very widely in studies. This study aims to examine accuracy and bias properties in parameter estimation ...
Sexuality and gender in Jeanette Winterson's two novels: Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit and Written On The Body
Yakut, Özge; Birlik, Nurten; Department of English Literature (2011)
This thesis aims to explore the categories of sexuality and gender through an analysis of Jeanette Winterson’s well-known novels, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and Written on the body, against the background of Butler’s concept of performativity and Cixous’s écriture feminine. By underlining the constructedness of these categories and questioning the boundaries of patriarchal concepts and transgressing them, Winterson deconstructs the binary oppositions created by phallocentric discourse and problematizes ...
Stem cell based nerve tissue engineering on guided constructs
Yücel, Deniz; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Department of Biotechnology (2009)
Nerve injury is a serious clinical problem that has a direct impact on the quality of life. Nerve tissue engineering (NTE) is one of the most promising methods in human health care to restore the function of damaged neural tissues. The current state of the art involves the construction of a tissue engineered, nano or micropatterned 3-D nerve tube that has fibers or channels in the inside. The scope of this study is to construct a 3-D, biodegradable nerve tube which consists of an aligned, electrospun mat se...
Seismic hazard assessment for the North Anatolian and San Andreas faults based on random field models
Akkaya, AD; Yücemen, Mehmet Semih (1999-12-15)
The North Anatolian fault (NAF), located in northern Turkey and California's San Andreas fault (SAF) show remarkable similarities. A random field model, developed by the authors (Akkaya & Yucemen 1996) is utilized to compare the seismicity characteristics of the two faults on a statistical basis. The seismic hazard model is based on the level-crossing theory of random fields and considers the space-time correlations simultaneously and explicitly through the use of spatial and temporal scales of fluctuation....
Plasma-activated direct bonding of diamond-on-insulator wafers to thermal oxide grown silicon wafers
Bayram, Barış; Akın, Tayfun (2010-11-01)
Diamond-on-insulator (DOI) wafers featuring ultrananocrystalline diamond are studied via atomic force microscopy, profilometer and wafer bow measurements. Plasma-activated direct bonding of DOI wafers to thermal oxide grown silicon wafers is investigated under vacuum. DOI wafer with chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) on the diamond surface makes a poor bonding to silicon wafers with thermal oxide. Our results show that plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition of silicon dioxide on top of the DOI wafer, CM...
