Application of active sampling and sptd/gc-ms analysis methodologies for terpenes at Uludag mountain

Aktaş, Yusuf
Measurement of monoterpenes including; alpha-pinene, camphene, beta-pinene, d-limonene, gamma-terpinene, linalool, 1-isopulegol, 1-borneol, dl-menthol, alpha-terpineol, dihydrocarveol, citronellol, pulegone, geraniol; and gas phase inorganic pollutants (O3 and NOx) were investigated on Uludağ Mountain, which is the highest point in North-west Turkey. The sampling site (1645 m altitude) is surrounded by mainly Uludağ fir, which is characteristic to Uludağ, while altitudes lower than 1000 m were composed of mixed deciduous trees. Sampling apparatus and sampling strategy for collection of the studied terpenes on Uludağ Mountain were developed. Breakthrough Volume experiments were performed for accurate sampling. Samples were collected in a field campaign performed during October 2002 by means of active sampling onto glass coated stainless steel tubes containing Tenax? TA (55 mg) and Carbopack? B (65 mg). The mass flow rate and duration of sampling were 30 mL/min and 4 hours. Short-Path-Thermal-Desorption/Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (SPTD/GC-MS) was used for the analysis of monoterpenes during 12-14 October 2002. The cryogenic preconcentration (-40oC) was maintained by liquid CO2. HP-1-MS capillary column provided good resolution of peaks, except for pulegone and citronellol at standard operation procedure. Internal standard calibration was applied by adding carefully measured spikes of fenchone to the samples and standards. The detection limits for each terpene were found to be at sub-ppbv level. Daily intermediate standard measurements and auto-tune provided checking the instrumental capabilities. Selected Ion Monitoring mode was used for analysis of the terpenes. For quantitation of the spectra at least one qualifier ion was expected to be within 80% correlation with target ion. Alpha-pinene, camphene, beta-pinene, and d-limonene were determined. The

Measurements of t(t)over-bar spin correlations and top quark polarization using dilepton final states in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2016-03-01)
Measurements of the top quark-antiquark (t (t) over bar) spin correlations and the top quark polarization are presented for t (t) over bar pairs produced in pp collisions at root s = 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb(-1) collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The measurements are performed using events with two oppositely charged leptons (electrons or muons) and two or more jets, where at least one of the jets is identified as originating from a bottom quark. The spin co...
Measurement of the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of Z bosons in pp collisions at root(s)=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (2012-02-01)
Measurements of the normalized rapidity (y) and transverse-momentum (q(T)) distributions of Drell-Yan muon and electron pairs in the Z-boson mass region (60 < M-ll < 120 GeV) are reported. The results are obtained using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). The distributions are measured over the ranges vertical bar y vertical bar < 3.5 and q(T)...
Observation of Spin Correlation in t(t)over-bar Events from pp Collisions at root s=7 TeV Using the ATLAS Detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (2012-05-24)
A measurement of spin correlation in t (t) over bar production is reported using data collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb(-1). Candidate events are selected in the dilepton topology with large missing transverse energy and at least two jets. The difference in azimuthal angle between the two charged leptons in the laboratory frame is used to extract the correlation between the top and antitop quark spins. In the helicity basis the measured degree ...
Measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-07-01)
A measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime using the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi Lambda in protonproton collisions at root s = 7TeV is presented. The data set, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 5 fb(-1), was recorded with the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using triggers that selected dimuon events in the J/psi mass region. The Lambda(0)(b) lifetime is measured to be 1.503 +/- 0.052 (stat.) +/- 0.031 (syst.) ps
Measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass in the ATLAS experiment
Aad, G.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2013-02-04)
A measurement of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass in the decay channel Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi (mu(+) mu(-))Lambda(0)(p pi(-)) is presented. The analysis uses a signal sample of about 2200 Lambda(0)(b) and (Lambda) over bar (0)(b) decays that are reconstructed in 4.9 fb(-1) of ATLAS pp collision data collected in 2011 at the LHC center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A simultaneous mass and decay time maximum likelihood fit is used to extract the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime and mass. They are measured to be tau(Lambda b...
