Multi criteria assembly line balancing problem with equipment decisions
Pekin, Nilüfer; Azizoğlu, Meral; Department of Industrial Engineering (2006)
In this thesis, we develop an exact algorithm for an assembly line balancing problem with equipment selection decisions. Two objectives are considered: minimizing the total equipment costs and the number of workstations. Our aim is to choose the type of the equipment(s) in every workstation and determine the assignment of the tasks to each workstation and equipment type. We aim to propose a set of efficient solutions for each problem and leave the choice of the best solution to the decision maker̕s preferen...
Profit oriented disassembly line balancing
Altekin, Fatma Tevhide; Kandiller, Levent; Department of Industrial Engineering (2005)
In this study, we deal with the profit oriented partial disassembly line balancing problem which seeks a feasible assignment of selected disassembly tasks to stations such that the precedence relations among the tasks are satisfied and the profit is maximized. We consider two versions of this problem. In the profit maximization per cycle problem (PC), we maximize the profit for a single disassembly cycle given the task times and costs, part revenues and demands and station costs. We propose a heuristic solu...
Temporal variations and sources of elements in the South Pole atmosphere: 1. Nonenriched and moderately enriched elements
Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal; ZOLLER, WH (American Geophysical Union (AGU), 1989-09-20)
Abstract High‐volume particle samples were collected from 1979 to 1983 from the south pole atmosphere and analyzed by nuclear methods. The new results are combined with similar studies at the south pole. There is no trend of concentrations during 12 years of sampling, but concentrations of elements fluctuate through seasonal cycles. Concentrations of elements associated with crustal dust and sea salt showed opposite seasonal variations. Concentrations of most crustal elements are low during winters, but dou...
Filtering of satellite images in geological lineament analyses: an application to a fault zone in Central Turkey
Süzen, Mehmet Lütfi (1998-04-01)
Lineament extraction and analysis is one of the routines in mapping large areas using remotely-sensed data, most of which is the satellite images. In this study, we aimed to test different lineament extraction techniques including single band, multiband enhancements and spatial domain filtering techniques. A fast algorithm has been developed for time and cost limited surveys in an area with known dominant and/or any selected orientation of lineaments. During the study for single band analysis, histogram equ...
Trust Modeling in Recommendation
Demirci, Mehmet Utku; Karagöz, Pınar (2021-12-09)
In social networks, trust is a fundamental notion aecting the na-ture and the strength of ties between individuals. It is also a pieceof useful auxiliary information for improving the performance ofrecommendation systems. The number of ratings given by a user isminimal compared to all items in popular, widely-used e-commercesites. Therefore, the user-item matrix that is used in collaborativeltering suers from data sparsity, resulting in poor recommenda-tion quality. Another issue is the cold start proble...
