Cloaking Dynamics on Lubricant-Infused Surfaces
Günay, Ahmet Alperen; Sett, Soumyadip; Ge, Qiaoyu; Zhang, Tiejun; Miljkovic, Nenad (2020-10-01)
Lubricant-infused surfaces (SLIPSs/LISs) enable omniphobicity by reducing droplet pinning through creation of an atomically smooth liquid-liquid interface. Although SLIPSs/LISs provide efficient omniphobicity, the need for lubricant adds additional barriers to heat and mass transport and affects three-phase contact line dynamics. Here, evaporation dynamics of microscale water droplets on SLIPSs/LISs are investigated using steady and transient methods. Although steady results demonstrate that evaporation on ...
Dielectric Analysis of Changes in Electric Properties of Doxorubicin Resistant K562 Leukemic Cells Through Electrorotation with 3 D Electrodes
Garsha, Bahrieh; Erdem, Murat; Özgür, Ebru; Gündüz, Ufuk; Külah, Haluk (2013-10-31)
In this study, dielectric characterization of multidrug resistant (MDR) K562 human leukemia cells was carried out using a MEMS-based electrorotation (ER) device with 3D electrodes. Different cell populations were utilized, which were resistant to 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 μM doxorubicin. The ER devices with 3D quadruple electrodes (30 urn in height) were used, in order to eliminate the fringing field effect on the rotation of cells. Signals in phase quadrature were applied to the polynomial electrodes, to induce th...
Dielectric Properties of Ethanol and Gasoline Mixtures by Terahertz Spectroscopy and an Effective Method for Determination of Ethanol Content of Gasoline
ARIK, Enis; Altan, Hakan; Esentürk, Okan (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2014-05-01)
Investigation of frequency dependent permittivity of mixture solutions provides information on the role of intermolecular interactions on relaxation processes of solvent and solute molecules. In this study the dielectric properties of ethanol/gasoline mixtures in the terahertz spectral region are investigated. Frequency dependent absorption coefficients, refractive indices, and complex permittivities of pure ethanol and gasoline, and their mixtures at varying ethanol volume percentages (v/v %) are reported....
NONLINEARITY, DISSIPATION AND TRANSPORT IN A MOLECULAR TRIMER
GULEN, D; BASKAL, S (IOP Publishing, 1993-02-15)
This study investigates the effects of dissipation on the quasi-particle transport in a degenerate molecular trimer in which the time evolution is described by the discrete non-linear Schrodinger equation. The standard procedure of introducing dissipation as a phase-destroying stochastic parameter through the corresponding Liouville-von Neumann equation is employed. A dosed second-order integrodifferential equation describing the time evolution of the site occupation probability difference is derived in the...
