ÖYP processes are complex due to four different types of actors and many interdependent stages it involves. All the registration, application and placement stages are performed using a paper-based information system and the number of actors involved increases each year. As a consequence of this, collecting, storing and processing the required information becomes more difficult, error prone and insufficient. In this study, to enhance ÖYP processes and to eliminate the errors and difficulties of the paper-based information system in use, a computer-based information system consisting of a web-based tool was developed, implemented and evaluated.

An Automated defect detection approach for cosmic functional size measurement
Yılmaz, Gökçen; Demirörs, Onur; Department of Information Systems (2012)
Software size measurement provides a basis for software project management and plays an important role for its activities such as project management estimations, process benchmarking, and quality control. As size can be measured with functional size measurement (FSM) methods in the early phases of the software projects, functionality is one of the most frequently used metric. On the other hand, FSMs are being criticized by being subjective. The main aim of this thesis is increasing the accuracy of the measu...
A study on conceptual modeling in simulation systems : an extended methodology for KAMA
Aysolmaz Bozlu, Banu E; Demirörs, Onur; Department of Information Systems (2007)
Conceptual modeling is considered to be essential in simulation development activities. However, there are only a few research studies on how to develop conceptual models. One of the important and comprehensive approaches is the methodology developed under the leadership of METU Modeling and Simulation Center (MODSIMMER) for Turkish Armed Forces. The project suggests a methodology to develop mission space conceptual models (GUKAM), and provides a Conceptual Model Development Tool for C4ISR M&S activities, w...
A pre-enactment model for measuring process quality
Güceğlioğlu, A. Selçuk; Demirörs, Onur; Department of Information Systems (2006)
Most of the process measurement studies are related with time and cost based models. Although quality is the other conventional aspect, there are no widely used models for measuring the process quality in the literature. In order to provide complementary information about the quality, a process quality measurement model has been chosen to be developed and the studies about process characteristics have been searched in the scope of the thesis. Moreover, by utilizing the similarities between process and softw...
Improvement proposal for a software requirements management process
Yamaç, Pınar Işıl; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Information Systems (2006)
This thesis focuses on measurement based software process improvement, especially improvement of requirements change management process. The literature on software measurement is investigated, software process improvement methodologies are studied and requirements change management metrics are examined. Requirements change management process at a private company working in the defense industry is observed and metrics obtained from various tools have been aggregated. Moreover, an improvement proposal, which ...
A clustering method for the problem of protein subcellular localization
Bezek, Perit; Atalay, Mehmet Volkan; Department of Computer Engineering (2006)
In this study, the focus is on predicting the subcellular localization of a protein, since subcellular localization is helpful in understanding a protein’s functions. Function of a protein may be estimated from its sequence. Motifs or conserved subsequences are strong indicators of function. In a given sample set of protein sequences known to perform the same function, a certain subsequence or group of subsequences should be common; that is, occurrence (frequency) of common subsequences should be high. Our ...
