Development of a pc numerical system for high voltage sphere gap control
Kasap, Onur; Hızal, Mirzahan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this thesis, a high precision motion and position control system has been developed and applied to a high voltage sphere gap control and measurement system. The system is able to support up to 3-axes position and motion control. The control system includes a microcontroller card, three DC servo motor driver cards and a data storage unit. To provide communication between computer and motion control system, the Universal Serial Bus (USB) port is used. The microcontroller card is equipped with an USB interf...
Development of a rapid-scan fiber-integrated terahertz spectrometer
Keskin, Hakan; Altan, Hakan; Yavas, Seydi; İLDAY, Fatih Ömer; Eken, Koray; ŞAHİN, ASAF BEHZAT (2014-04-01)
Scientists in terahertz (THz) wave technologies have benefited from the recent developments in ultrafast laser technologies and RF technologies and applied these new gained techniques into characterizing a wide variety of phenomena. Undoubtedly, the most successful of these applications has been in the development of time-domain terahertz spectroscopic and imaging systems which has been utilized in the characterization of dielectrics and semiconductors. This pulsed technique has allowed users to characteriz...
DEVELOPMENT OF AN INDOOR REACTIVE NAVIGATION METHOD USING SPHERICAL IMAGES
Şahin, Yiğit; Koku, Ahmet Buğra; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2021-12-29)
An algorithm for visual topological localization and navigation is proposed. Landmark detection and tracking is performed in successive frames to determine angular changes between repetitive and salient features. This angular state is used to generate heading vector which will lead the robot to the target scene. This reactive navigation behavior is aided with localization and path planing algorithms to complete the SLAM capability. Our algorithm is tested in 2 different natural indoor environments. Results ...
DEVELOPMENT OF AN EXTENSIBLE HETEROGENEOUS SWARM ROBOT PLATFORM
Bilaloğlu, Cem; Turgut, Ali Emre; Şahin, Erol; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-1-13)
This thesis introduces Kobot -- an extensible heterogeneous swarm robot platform. Kobot platform uses a common hardware and software architecture based on off-the-shelf components, 3-D printing, and open-source software that evolves with state of the art. Robots built using this common architecture range from wheeled to flying robots and formed a heterogeneous swarm. The common architecture enabled developing and testing systems for the lightweight flying robots on resourceful ground robots. As a result, Ko...
