Cells migrate in vivo through channel-like tracks. While polydimethylsiloxane devices emulate such tracks in vitro, their channel walls are impermeable and have supraphysiological stiffness. Existing hydrogel-based platforms address these issues but cannot provide high-throughput analysis of cell motility in independently controllable stiffness and confinement. We herein develop polyacrylamide (PA)-based microchannels of physiological stiffness and prescribed dimensions for high-throughput analysis of cell ...
Transport and luminescence phenomena in electroformed silicon nitride-based light emitting diode
ANUTGAN, MUSTAFA; ANUTGAN, TAMİLA; ATILGAN, İSMAİL; Katircioglu, B. (Informa UK Limited, 2013-08-01)
Hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride-based heterojunction pin diode was electroformed under sufficiently high forward bias stress leading to its instant nanocrystallization at room temperature. In order to investigate the origin of the accompanying bright visible light emission, current-voltage and electroluminescence (EL) characteristics of the electroformed diode were scanned over temperature. Electrical transport mechanism was analysed in the low, medium and high electric field regimes. Temperature and...

Direction-of-Arrival and Mutual Coupling Coefficient Estimation With A Single Observation For Arbitrary Array Structures
Elbir, Ahmet M.; Tuncer, Temel Engin (2016-05-19)
In this paper, single snapshot direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation under mutual coupling (MC) is considered for arbitrary array structures. A compressed sensing approach is utilized and a joint-sparse recovery algorithm is proposed for DOA and MC coefficient estimation. In this respect, both spatial source directions and MC coefficients are embedded into a joint-sparse vector. A new dictionary matrix is defined using the symmetricity of the MC matrix. The proposed approach does not depend on the structure...
SETTLING KINETICS OF CHAMPAGNE YEAST
ARIKAN, O; OZILGEN, M (Elsevier BV, 1992-09-01)
Settling kinetics of champagne yeast were studied with 0.01, 0.05, and 0.10 m NaCl, CaCl2, AlCl3, and 1.00 +/- 0.01 OD660 (optical density at 660 nm) initial yeast concentration at pH 1. In the suspensions with 0.01 M NaCl, the pH of the medium varied between 1 and 3, and the initial yeast concentration changed between 0.74 and 1.25 OD660. Analysis of the data showed that the settling phenomena occurred in two steps: (i) establishment of the diffuse double layer to overcome repulsion, hence achievement of c...
