Synthesis and Characterization of Aluminum Containing Silica Aerogel Catalysts for Degradation of PLA
Sivri, Seda; Dilek Hacıhabiboğlu, Çerağ; Sezgi, Naime Aslı (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2019-05-01)
Aluminum loaded silica aerogel based catalysts were synthesized by impregnation of aluminum into silica aerogel produced using sol-gel method in different aluminum loadings (2.5-15 wt%) to investigate their performances in degradation of polylactic acid (PLA).
Synthesis and characterization of Pd-MCM-type mesoporous nanocomposite materials
Şener, Canan; Doğu, Timur; Department of Chemical Engineering (2006)
Noble metal incorporated MCM-41 based nanostructured mesoporous materials have attracted the attention of material researchers in recent years. Sorption characteristics of MCM materials can be improved by surface modification techniques. Besides surface modification, metal nanoparticles can also be produced within the pores of mesoporous materials. MCM-41 can act as host for several metal nanoparticles such as palladium. The present study is focused on the synthesis of Pd-MCM-41 nanocomposite catalytic mate...
Production and characterization of activated carbon from sulphonated styrene divinylbenzene copolymer
Abdallah, Wisam; Yücel, Hayrettin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2004)
Activated carbon was produced from strong cation-exchange resins, sulphonated styrene divinylbenzene copolymers originally in H+ form, by means of carbonization and steam activation in an electrical furnace. One macroporous resin produced by BAYER Chemicals Inc., Lewatit MonoPlus SP 112 H, was used in the research. Products of carbonization and activation were characterized by using BET, Mercury Porosimetry, Helium Pycnometry and SEM techniques. The effect of carbonization time and temperature on the BET su...
Synthesis and characterization of zeolite beta
Tamer, Nadir Hakan; Yücel, Hayrettin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2006)
Zeolite beta has been synthesized using hydrothermal methods. In order to synthesize zeolite beta an aqueous gel having a molar batch composition of 2.2 Na2O Al2O3 x SiO2 4.6 (TEA)2O 444 H2O was utilized. The synthesis parameters were SiO2/Al2O3 ratio (20 ≤ x ≤ 50) and crystallization time (6 ≤ t ≤ 16 days). Pure zeolite beta was crystallized from the experiments which were performed with the batch composition having SiO2/Al2O3 of 20 and 30 in 6 to 16 days period. For SiO2/Al2O3 of 20 and 30, the highest yi...
Synthesis of silver nanoparticles and cable like structures through coaxial electrospinning
Çınar, Simge; Gündüz, Güngör; Department of Chemical Engineering (2009)
The aim of this study is to demonstrate the possibility of production of nanocables as an alternative to the other one dimensional metal/polymer composite structures like nanowires and nanorods. There is no certain definition of nanocables; however they could be considered as assemblies of nanowires. Nanocable structure can be defined as a core-shell structure formed by a polymeric shell and a metal core that runs continuously within this shell. To produce nanocables, two main steps were carried out. Firstl...
