Effect of carbonate alkalinity on flotation behavior of quartz
Sayilgan, A; Arol, Ali İhsan (Elsevier BV, 2004-11-19)
Alkalinity is defined as the capacity of a water to neutralize strong acids. In natural waters, this capacity is generally attributable to bases such as HCO3-, CO32 and OH- as well as to species often present in small concentrations such as silicates, borates, ammonia, phosphates and organic bases. Carbonate alkalinity of process waters in mineral processing may change as a result of the seasonal climatic changes, the fresh water source and the amount of recycled process water. Any mineral processing plants...
Effect of alkalinity on flotation behavior of quartz
Sayılgan, Aslı Halime; Arol, Ali İhsan; Department of Mining Engineering (2003)
Carbonates are always present in natural waters, thus in the process waters in flotation. When CO2 dissolves in water it forms a weak acid. This acid and its salts in solution constitutes the carbonic system. The pH of natural waters on land is controlled mainly by this system. Alkalinity is the capacity of a water to neutralize strong acids. In natural waters, this capacity is attributable to bases such as HCO3, CO3" and OH" as well as to species often present in small concentrations such as silicates, bor...
Effect of particle size on heat of hydration of pozzolan incorporated cements /
Ardoğa, Mehmet Kemal; Tokyay, Mustafa; Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan; Department of Civil Engineering (2014)
Hydration reactions, the chemical reactions between cement and water are exothermic. The determination of the heat of hydration and rate of heat evolution of cement are extremely important to understand the hydration mechanism. In this study, clinker and gypsum rock were ground after adding natural pozzolan (trass) with various proportions until a specific fineness value and different cements were obtained. These cements were divided into particle size groups with a sonic sifter and the heat of hydration an...

Effect of TiH2 particle size on foaming of aluminium
Kubilay, Ceylan; Öztürk, Tayfur; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2005)
A study is carried out on the production of aluminum foams via powder processing. The study deals mainly with the effect of TiH2 particle size on the process of foaming. Mainly two TiH2 particle sizes were used; namely 27,5 ?m and 8,5 ?m. Foaming experiments were carried out at temperatures between 675oC ا 840oC. The viscosity of the system is adjusted by controlled addition of Al2O3. The study shows that choice of foaming agent size is influential in the foaming process. With the use of fine foaming agent,...
