Accelerated Born-Infeld metrics in Kerr-Schild geometry
GÜRSES, METİN; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür (IOP Publishing, 2003-01-21)
We consider Einstein Born-Infeld theory with a null fluid in Kerr-Schild geometry. We find accelerated charge solutions of this theory. Our solutions reduce to the Plebanski solution when the acceleration vanishes and to the Bonnor-Vaidya solution as the Born-Infeld parameter b goes to infinity. We also give the explicit form of the energy flux formula due to the acceleration of the charged sources.
Second-order scalar-tensor field theories
Şahin, Ertan Sinan; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür; Department of Physics (2017)
We review Horndeski’s scalar-tensor theory in this thesis. Partial differential equations that are satisfied by the Lagrangian limit its most general form. Demanding second-order field equations both for the metric and the scalar field, and choosing a four-dimensional spacetime also put restrictions on the most general form of the Lagrangian. Besides, by using similar techniques, in a four-dimensional spacetime, we find the most general form of the second-order Euler-Lagrange equations that are obtained fro...

Long-time behaviour of solutions to a singular heat equation with an application to hydrodynamics
Kitavtsev, Georgy; Taranets, Roman M. (European Mathematical Society Publishing House, 2020-01-01)
In this paper, we extend the results of [8] by proving exponential asymptotic H-1-convergence of solutions to a one-dimensional singular heat equation with L-2-source term that describe evolution of viscous thin liquid sheets while considered in the Lagrange coordinates. Furthermore, we extend this asymptotic convergence result to the case of a time inhomogeneous source. This study has also independent interest for the porous medium equation theory.
