The Casimir energy of the twisted string loop: Uniform and two segment loops
Bayin, SS; Krisch, JP; Ozcan, M (1996-08-01)
We calculate the Casimir energy of a two segment loop of string with one normal boundary point and one twisted boundary point. The energy is renormalized relative to the twisted uniform loop. The use of the twisted loop in simplifying untwisted loop calculations is discussed. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
The exciton transition energies in symmetric double GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs quantum wells
Okan, SE; Aktas, S; Akbas, H; Tomak, Mehmet (Wiley, 1999-04-01)
The exciton transition energies between valence and conduction subbands of symmetric double quantum wells are studied. To study the effect of geometry coupled wells of rectangular, graded and parabolic shapes are considered. A special emphasis is given to the study of crossover between the symmetric light-hole (e1-11) and the antisymmetric heavy-hole (e2-h2) transitions.

The angle of total pi-electron energy and localization energies of alternant hydrocarbons
Türker, Burhan Lemi (1996-01-01)
It has been proved that the localization energies of alternant hydrocarbons correlate linearly with cosines of the angle of total pi-electron energies of the corresponding sigma-complexes in chemical reactions. Topologically variable upper and lower bounds for the topological form of the localization energy are obtained. It has been shown that among the various sigma-complexes of the same compound, the one having the highest a(4) coefficient is more likely to form.
The momentum 4-vector imparted by gravitational waves in Bianchi-type metrics
Havare, A; Korunur, M; Salti, M (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2006-01-01)
Considering the MOller, Weinberg and Qadir-Sharif's definitions in general relativity, we find the momentum 4-vector of the closed universe based on the Bianchi-type metrics. The momentum 4-vector (due to matter plus fields) is found to be zero. This result supports the viewpoints of Albrow and Tryon and extends the previous works by Cooperstock-Israelit, Rosen, Johri et al., Banerjee-Sen and Vargas who investigated the problem of the energy in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe and SaltI-Havare who studie...
