Ozone concentrations at a rural mountain site of northwestern Turkey
Ozer, U; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (1996-03-29)
Average ozone concentrations at a remote site in the Uludag Mountain of Northwestern Turkey was 29 ppb for a 12 month period. Only 11% of the time 1-h average values exceed 50 ppb. The US Air Quality Standard of 0.12 ppm was not exceeded. The diurnal variations of O3 and NO2 were 27 and 2.3 ppb respectively, during summer 1993, indicating the impact of urban and industrial sources. Highest O3 concentrations were observed under southerly and northerly winds, suggestive of the transport of photochemically pro...
Fabrication and Characterization of Gold-Tin Eutectic Bonding for Hermetic Packaging of MEMS Devices
DEMIR, Eyup Can; TORUNBALCI, M. Mert; DONMEZ, Inci; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Akın, Tayfun (2014-12-05)
This paper presents the fabrication of wafer-level hermetic encapsulation for MEMS devices using low-temperature (300 degrees C) Au-Sn bonding together with their pre- and post-bonding characterization. Thermal evaporation method was used for metallization which is easy and controllable method for low thickness metallization. In this respect, the current study represents preliminary characterization results of Au-Sn pre-and post-bonding with an average thickness of less than 1.5 mu m processed by thermal ev...
Thermal analysis of gray cast iron by interpretation of cooling curves
Çetin, Arda; Kalkanlı, Ali; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2002)
The aim of the present work is to investigate the relations between data obtained from the cooling curve and its first and second derivatives and the as-cast microstructure of gray cast iron, assuming that the cooling curve reflects the complete history of the solidification process. Fourteen different alloy compositions are prepared in order to obtain statistical predictive models to relate cooling curve parameters with the solidification variables such as chemical analysis, inoculation, graphite shape, pr...
Trapping of 1,2-benzo-1,3,4-cycloheptatriene as evidence for a strained cyclic allene structure
Yildiz, YK; Ozturk, T; Balcı, Metin (1999-07-23)
8-brom-6,7-dihydrobenzocycloheptene 16 and 9-bromo-6,7-benzocycloheptadiene 17 have been synthesized via a new and simple method, and their allene reactions were studied. Treatment of 16 with a base in the presence of DPIBF (diphenylisobenzofuran) gave the strained bicyclic allene 9, which underwent a cycloaddition reaction to yield 25 and 26. On the other hand, the reaction of the vinyl bromide 17 with a base, either in the presence or absence of DPIBF, resulted in the formation of 7H-benzocycloheptadiene ...
Synthesis of ZSM-5 from modified clinoptilolite and its catalytic activity in alkylation of benzene to ethylbenzene
KARTAL, ÖZLEM ESEN; Önal, Işık (2008-01-01)
ZSM-5 catalysts were prepared by utilizing clinoptilolite found in Western Anatolia in abundant amounts as a type of natural zeolite. Hydrothermal reaction was conducted with HCl-treated clinoptilolite at 180 degrees C. After characterizing the solid products obtained by this reaction as ZSM-5 by means of XRD, IR, TGA, surface area analyzer, and chemical analysis they were tested as catalysts in benzene alkylation reaction with ethylene leading to ethylbenzene. Catalytic performance of samples prepared in t...
