Nickel sorption by acclimatized activated sludge culture
Arican, B; Yetiş, Ülkü (Elsevier BV, 2003-08-01)
The sorption of Ni2+ by acclimatized activated sludge treating Ni2+ bearing wastewater was investigated using a once-through completely mixed tank reactor. The culture developed from sewage was acclimatized to 85.2 mumole/L Ni2+ influent concentration by stepwise increases, at a low dilution rate 0.11/h. Acclimation was found to enhance the sorptive capacity of the activated sludge. In fact, at all of the intermediate concentrations, percentage Ni2+ adsorbed by the biomass and also the sorptive capacity of ...
Nickel diffusion coating on austenitic stainless steels & its effect on stress corrosion cracking
Ögel, Bilgehan (1999-04-01)
The effect of electrolytic and electroless nickel diffusion coatings was studied on stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of AISI 304 anstenitic stainless steel. The nickel coating was diffused at the annealing temperature range of AISI 304 steel. It was observed that the diffusion process improves adhesion of the coating to the substrate. The electrolytic Ni-coated and diffused 304 samples showed better resistance to SCC (ASTM G 36-87), when compared to plain AISI 304, 316 and 321 stainless steels. No f...
Nickel resource setimation and reconciliation at Türkmençardağı laterite deposits
Gençtürk, Bilgehan; Karpuz, Celal; Department of Mining Engineering (2012)
In recent years nickel is mostly produced from lateritic ore deposits such as nontronite, limonite, etc. Resource estimation is difficult for laterite deposits as they have a weak and heterogeneous form. 3D modeling software are rather suitable for deposits having tabular or vein type ores. In this study the most appropriate estimation technique for resource estimation of nickel laterite deposits was investigated. One of the known nickel laterite deposits in Turkey is located at Türkmençardağı - Gördes regi...
Nickel titanium alloys as orthodontic archwires: A narrative review
Uysal, Idil; Yilmaz, Bengi; Atilla, Aykan Onur; Evis, Zafer (2022-12-01)
Nickel-titanium (NiTi) archwires have been widely used in orthodontic treatments at the aligning and leveling step which is the initial stage of the treatment. This review presents the concepts related to NiTi archwires from the materials science and engineering perspective. Analysis of the research profile showed that mechanical properties as a research topic constituted 25.9 % of the research articles published in last two decades. The effects of processing parameters, stress and temperature on phase tran...
Nickel assisted chemical etching for multi-crystalline Si solar cell texturing: a low cost single step alternative to existing methods
Takaloo, Ashkan Vakilipour; ES, FIRAT; BAYTEMİR, Gulsen; Turan, Raşit (2018-07-01)
The texturing of silicon surfaces is a well-known method of reducing the reflection from the surface of crystalline Si solar cell devices. With the utilization of diamond wires in recent advances in wafer slicing technology, surface texturing for the multi-crystalline Si wafers by the traditional acid-based texturing technique has become difficult. Metal-Assisted Etching (MAE) has been shown to be a promising and low-cost alternative to the traditional acid-based isotropic texturing. This paper reports, for...
