The recently discovered DsJ(2317) and DsJ(2460) mesons had stimulated many theoretical and experimental studies due to their unexpected properties. In this thesis, we make a review of the predictions on the properties of these mesons using the quark model and QCD Sum Rules. We studied different models about the structure of these mesons, which are suggested because of their unexpected properties. Moreover, using the quark model which implies that the structure of DsJ meson as cs and QCD Sum Rules method, we investigated the semileptonic decay DsJ(2317)-->D0 l nu. .

Entanglement measures
Uyanık, Kıvanç; İpekoğlu, Yusuf; Department of Physics (2008)
Being a puzzling feature of quantum mechanics, entanglement caused many debates since the infancy days of quantum theory. But it is the last two decades that it has started to be seen as a resource for physical tasks which are not possible or extremely infeasible to be done classically. Popular examples are quantum cryptography - secure communication based on laws of physics - and quantum computation - an exponential speedup for factoring large integers. On the other hand, with current technological restric...
Density functional investigation of nano-structures
Üzengi Aktürk, Olcay; Tomak, Mehmet; Department of Physics (2010)
In this thesis, we first investigate the physical properties of some metal atoms, molecules and their clusters. We then study the interaction of these with silicon and graphene surfaces. The adsorption of NH3 and H2S molecules on Au3Pt3 is also studied. We calculate the equilibrium atomic structures of metal clusters using density functional theory (DFT) up to eight atoms. The electronic structures of these free and adsorbed clusters are also calculated in detail. We find that the adsorption generally modif...
Strong decays of the DsJ (2317) mesons using QCD sum rules
Aydemir, Ufuk; Özpineci, Altuğ; Department of Physics (2007)
Unexpected properties of recently discovered mesons DsJ(2317) and DsJ(2460) have caused an excitement in the high energy community. These mesons are under experimental study in BaBar, Belle and CLEO. The experimental data on these mesons is quite limited at the moment, but it is expected to be improved in the following years. The unexpected properties of these mesons, such as the low mass, and small width, have caused speculations about their structure. Various models have been proposed which go beyond the ...
Silicon nanocrystals embedded in sio2 for light emitting diode (led) applications
Kulakçı, Mustafa; Turan, Raşit; Department of Physics (2005)
In this study, silicon nanocrystals (NC) were synthesized in silicon dioxide matrix by ion implantation followed by high temperature annealing. Annealing temperature and duration were varied to study their effect on the nanocrystal formation and optical properties. Implantation of silicon ions was performed with different energy and dose depending on the oxide thickness on the silicon substrate. Before device fabrication, photoluminescence (PL) measurement was performed for each sample. From PL measurement ...
İnvestigating the semileptonic B to K1(1270,1400) decays in QCD sum rules
Dağ, Hüseyin; Zeyrek, Mehmet Tevfik; Department of Physics (2010)
Quantum Chromodynamics(QCD) is part of the Standard Model(SM) that describes the interaction of fundamental particles. In QCD, due to the fact that strong coupling constant is large at low energies, perturbative approaches do not work. For this reason, non-perturbative approaches have to be used for studying the properties of hadrons. Among several non-perturbative approaches, QCD sum rules is one of the reliable methods which is applied to understand the properties of hadrons and their interactions.\ In th...
