Structural properties of boron carbide nanoparticles: Application of a new set of Stillinger-Weber parameters
Dugan, Nazim; Erkoç, Şakir (Elsevier BV, 2011-08-01)
A suitable Stillinger-Weber (SW) potential energy function parameter set is developed for finite boron structures by genetic algorithm and trial error techniques. Boron structure geometries in 7-24 atoms range, calculated by ab initio methods, are taken as the fitting criteria in the parameter set development. This parameter set is used together with another SW parameter set developed for carbon-carbon interactions in order to investigate boron carbide nanoparticles in the form of BxCx where 8 <= x <= 14. I...
Structural studies of polypyrroles - II. A Monte Carlo growth approach to the branch formation
YURTSEVER, E; Esentürk, Okan; PAMUK, HO; YURTSEVER, M (1999-01-01)
A simulation technique which is based on quantum mechanically generated probability distributions of alpha alpha, alpha beta and beta beta type linkages in polypyrroles is presented and applied for a statistical analysis of the growth process. The results show that the branching occur even at very short chains. The extent of the branching does not depend on the chain length and it is a slowly varying function of the temperature. At room temperatures, 20-25% deviations from the linearity is observed which is...

Structural characterization of polycrystalline Ag-In-Se thin films deposited by e-beam technique
Colakoglu, T.; Parlak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2008-01-15)
The Ag-In-Se thin films were deposited by e-beam evaporation of the Ag3In5Se9 single crystal powder under high vacuum without intentional doping. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA) showed the decreasing behavior of Se and Ag in the structure depending on the annealing. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that as-grown films have amorphous structure while annealing the films under nitrogen environment at 200 degrees C transformed from the amorphous to polycrystalline structure. The crystallinity of ...
