In this study, an online movie recommendation engine that serves on Facebook is developed in order to evaluate social circle e ects on user preferences in a trust-based environment. Instead of using single-user profiles in the social environment identification process, virtual group profiles that present common tastes of the social environments, are formed to achieve a successful social circle analysis and innovative suggestions. Recommendations are generated based on similar social circles and based on social circles of similar users separately and their results are evaluated. Pure collaborative filtering is applied to emphasize the influence of social environment characteristics.

Random Walk Based Context-Aware Activity Recommendation for Location Based Social Networks
Bagci, Hakan; Karagöz, Pınar (2015-10-21)
The pervasiveness of location-acquisition technologies enable location-based social networks (LBSN) to become increasingly popular in recent years. Users are able to check-in their current location and share information with other users through these networks. LBSN check-in data can be used for the benefit of users by providing personalized recommendations. There are several location recommendation algorithms that employ LBSN data in the literature. However, there are few number of proposed activity recomme...
Eye Tracking Scanpath Analysis on Web Pages: How Many Users?
Eraslan, Sukru; Yesilada, Yeliz; Harper, Simon (2016-03-17)
The number of users required for usability studies has been a controversial issue over 30 years. Some researchers suggest a certain number of users to be included in these studies. However, they do not focus on eye tracking studies for analysing eye movement sequences of users (i.e., scanpaths) on web pages. We investigate the effects of the number of users on scanpath analysis with our algorithm that was designed for identifying the most commonly followed path by multiple users. Our experimental results su...
