Effects of cyclic strain hardening on performance of eccentrically braced frames
Balıkçı, Elif Müge; Topkaya, Cem (2021-12-01)
Performance based seismic design (PBSD) procedures have been developed in recent years. Studies conducted in the past revealed that strain hardening ratio (SHR) used in numerical modeling can be influential on the performance of steel structural systems. In this paper, the effects of SHR on the performance assessment of eccentrically braced frame (EBF) buildings were studied by using FEMA P-58 methodology. The numerical model was validated using the pseudo-dynamic test results of the DUAREM structure. Seism...
EFFECTS OF ROTOR GEOMERY ON THE PERFORMANCE OF VIBRATING MASS CONTROL MOMENT GYRPOSCOPES
Arberkli, Ferhat; Akbulut, Burak; Azgın, Kıvanç; Tekinalp, Ozan (2018-01-01)
Elimination of unwanted oscillations on the satellite body that may be caused by the vibrating rotor control moment gyroscopes is addressed. It is mathematically shown that proper rotor inertia selection removes the unwanted oscillations on the output axis of the control moment gyroscope. Simulation results carried out using the ADAMS mechanical modeling and simulation software are given and discussed.
Effects of camberwise varying tip injection on loss and wake characteristics of a low pressure turbine blade
Mercan, Bayram; Dogan, Eda; Ostovan, Yashar; Uzol, Oğuz (2015-08-01)
This paper presents the results of an experimental study that investigates the effects of camberwise varying tip injection on the total pressure loss and wake flow characteristics downstream of a row of Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) blades. This injection technique involves spanwise jets at the tip that are issued from a series of holes distributed along the camber line. The injection from each hole is individually and separately controlled using a computer driven solenoid valve and therefore the flow injectio...
