A layerwise approach to piezo-electric plates accounting for adhesive flexibility and delaminated regions
Erturk, CL; Tekinalp, Ozan (Elsevier BV, 2005-01-01)
Multilayer plates with piezoelectric layers are modeled considering the deformation of the adhesive layers. Special finite elements, that use linear Lagrange and conforming Hermite type interpolation functions, are developed. The results of the formulation are compared with the other results presented in the literature. Since flexible bonding formulation is also suitable for modeling delamination, case studies containing partially delaminated PZT patches are presented. It is shown for a cantilever plate tha...
A robust fuzzy approach for constrained multi-product economic production quantity with imperfect items and rework process
Khalilpourazari, Soheyl; Mirzazadeh, Abolfazl; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Pasandideh, Seyed Hamid Reza (Informa UK Limited, 2019-06-28)
This paper aims to develop a robust multi-item EPQ formulation considering rework process and imperfect items. The mathematical model consists of two objective functions targeting minimization of total inventory costs and the total required warehouse space, respectively. Since, in real-world applications, parameters of the mathematical formulation are due to uncertainty, in this paper, Basic Chance Constraint Programming and Robust Fuzzy Chance Constraint Programming models are developed to handle uncertain...
A probabilistic conceptual design and sizing approach for a helicopter
Selvi, Selim; Yavrucuk, İlkay; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2010)
Due to its complex and multidisciplinary nature, the conceptual design phase of helicopters becomes critical in meeting customer satisfaction. Statistical (probabilistic) design methods can be employed to understand the design better and target a design with lower variability. In this thesis, a conceptual design and helicopter sizing methodology is developed and shown on a helicopter design for Turkey.
A Two stage approach for hybrid-assembly line design
Şimşek, Doğukan; Kırca, Ömer; Department of Industrial Engineering (2014)
The aim of the study is to propose an approach for hybrid assembly line design in the make-to-order and mixed-model environment. In this context, the main goal is to reduce lead-time, which is one of the key concepts of competitive markets. A systematic approach was employed for designing of hybrid assembly line in order to achieve the goal. The line is divided into two parts in a hybrid system: while the first part of the line works as a closed-loop system for instant replenishment of Constant Work in Prog...
A micro macro approach to the failure of rubber like materials
Dal, Hüsnü (2008-04-04)
Rubbery polymers are modelled with hyperelastic constitutive laws by which the material can be stretched indefinitely or up to a certain locking stretch value. However, no material can sustain indefinite stretch and store infinite energy. Failure occurs after a threshold value for stress and/or energy is attained. Within this context, an approach for failure analysis of rubber–like materials based on the constitutive description of material is presented. The model is based on a hyperelastic material law rep...
