Modeling and Control of Multilevel Three - Phase PWM Current Source Inverter
Guedouani, R.; Fiala, B.; Berkouk, E. M.; Boucherit, M. S. (2011-09-10)
The new three-phase 5-level current-source inverter (CSI) proposed in this paper was developed by connecting two classical current source inverters (CSIs) in cascade. This structure lend an output current harmonics minimization and without the use of high-frequency modulation. The output current waveform of the five-level CSI is composed of intermediary current levels, which are typically obtained from inductors current sources. The operational principle of this structure was analyzed. And to reduce the out...
Modeling and simulation of oil leakage in radial lip seals
Yıldız, Meltem; Akkök, Metin; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2010)
Radial lip seals are used to prevent leakage between machine elements in many industrial applications. During operation, fluid film between seal lip and shaft surface generates a pressure distribution on the lip which is elastically deformed due to hydrodynamic pressure. Surface roughness parameters in terms of moments of height profile distribution (rms roughness, skewness and kurtosis) affect the rate of oil leakage. A computer program is developed for elastohydrodynamic analysis of radial lip seals. Both...
Modeling and fabrication of electrostatically actuated diaphragms for on-chip valving of MEMS-compatible microfluidic systems
Atik, Ali Can; Ozkan, Metin Dundar; Ozgur, Ebru; Külah, Haluk; Yıldırım, Ender (IOP Publishing, 2020-11-01)
This paper presents an analytical model to estimate the actuation potential of an electrostatic parylene-C diaphragm, processed on a glass wafer using standard microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) process technology, and integrable to polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based lab-on-a-chip systems to construct a normally-closed microvalve for flow manipulation. The accurate estimation of the pull-in voltage of the diaphragm is critical to preserve the feasibility of integration. Thus, we introduced an analytical m...
Modeling and synthesis of circular-sectoral arrays of log-periodic antennas using multilevel fast multipole algorithm and genetic algorithms
Ergül, Özgür Salih (American Geophysical Union (AGU), 2007-06-19)
Circular-sectoral arrays of log-periodic (LP) antennas are presented for frequency-independent operation and beam-steering capability. Specifically, nonplanar trapezoidal tooth LP antennas are considered in a circular array configuration, where closely spaced antennas occupy a sector of the circle. Electromagnetic interactions of the array elements, each of which is a complicated LP antenna structure, are rigorously computed with the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). Genetic algorithms (GAs) are ...
