Solution behavior of Na sulfonated polystyrene: Dipole moment determinations
Güler, Hatice; Aras, Leyla; Vanderschueren, J. (Wiley, 1990)
Solution behavior of Na sulfonated polystyrene (NaSPS) ionomers with different percentages of sulfonate was studied by viscosity and dipole moment measurements. Two solvents of different character were chosen, i.e. dioxane (ϵ = 2.22) and dimethyl formamide (DMF, ϵ = 36) and their mixtures. The reduced viscosity as a function of concentration in polar solvents reflects the ‘polyelectrolyte’ behaviour of the ionomers. Mean‐squared dipole moment (<μ2>/x) values were calculated over a temperature range of 20–1...
Solution properties of polyaniline
Yilmaz, Faris; Kucukyavuz, Zuhal (Wiley, 2010-04-01)
Solution properties of polyaniline (PANI) synthesized at various temperatures were studied using static light scattering (SLS), intrinsic viscosity, and dynamic light scattering (DLS). We demonstrated that average radius of gyration (R-g), intrinsic viscosity [eta], and average hydrodynamic radius (R-H), of polyaniline molecules in dilute N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) solutions increased with decreasing synthesis temperatures, i.e.; increasing molecular weight. SLS data demonstrate that second virial coeff...
Solution properties of poly(dimethyl siloxane)
Buyuktanir, EA; Kucukyavuz, Z (Wiley, 2000-10-15)
The solution properties of poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) were studied with light scattering (LS), gel permeation chromatography/light; scattering (GPC/LS), and viscometry methods. PDMS samples were fractionated, and the weight-average molecular weights, second virial coefficient, and the z-average radius of gyration of each fraction were found according to the Zimm method with the LS technique. In this work, the molecular weight range studied was 7.5 x 10(4) to 8.0 x 10(5). Molecular weights and molecular ...
SOLUTION PROPERTIES AND CHAIN STIFFNESS OF POLY(ACENAPHTHYLENE)
KUCUKYAVUZ, S; GOKSEL, C; KUCUKYAVUZ, Z (Informa UK Limited, 1993-01-01)
Solution properties of poly(acenaphthylene) (PACN) were investigated in a theta solvent (1,2-dichloroethane) and a good solvent (chloroform). The viscosity exponent alpha was found to be 0.50 at both 35 and 41-degrees-C in 1,2-dichloroethane. Unperturbed dimensions found from viscometric measurements were compared with those of other vinyl aromatic polymers. Calculation of the chain flexibility parameters led to the conclusion that PACN is a rather stiff chain compared to other vinyl polymers with its chara...
Solution-phase mixture synthesis with double-separation tagging: Double demixing of a single mixture provides a stereoisomer library of 16 individual murisolins
WİLCOX, CRAİG STEPHEN; Gudipati, V; Lu, HJ; Türkyılmaz, Serhan; Curran, DP (Wiley, 2005-01-01)
Two tags are better than one: Sixteen individual stereoisomers of murisolin (see scheme) are synthesized together and isolated in pure form with the aid of a double‐separation tagging procedure. A strategy for solution‐phase stereoisomer synthesis based on double‐separation tagging and double demixing is implemented with fluoroalkyl and oligoethylene glycol (OEG, (OCH2CH2)nOCH3) tags.
