Attenuated total reflectance fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of fluid systems : case study applications to diagnosis and screening in biomedical and food areas
Gök, Seher; Severcan, Feride; Department of Biology (2013)
ATR-FTIR spectroscopy offers highly specific, sensitive, label free and non-destructive analytical examination opportunity for biological systems. Despite the many progresses in order to improve biological applications of this powerful technique, there has not yet been acquired enough end user data that were exemplified by proper case studies. Here, two case studies, from biomedical and food areas were retrieved to illustrate the influential potential of ATR-FTIR technique for diagnosis and screening of bio...
Asymmetric synthesis of chiral camphor fused pyridine type novel organocatalysts
Küçükdişli, Murat; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2009)
Chiral pyridines as organocatalysts have been used in asymmetric organic synthesis in recent years. The asymmetric synthesis of camphor fused pyridine type novel organocatalysts were perfomed starting from cheap and easily available natural (+)-camphor. Using camphor fused pyridine skeleton, six organocatalysts 29, 32, 33, 38, 40, and 41were successfully synthesized. The first four nucleophilic and Lewis base catalysts 29, 32, and 33 are different P-oxides and P,N-dioxides which were tested in allylation of...
Attenuation relationship for peak groundvelocity based on strong ground motion data recorded in Turkey
Altıntaş, Süleyman Serkan; Gülkan, Polat; Department of Civil Engineering (2006)
Estimation of the ground motion parameters is extremely important for engineers to make the structures safer and more economical, so it is one of the main issues of Earthquake Engineering. Peak values of the ground motions obtained either from existing records or with the help of attenuation relationships, have been used as a useful parameter to estimate the effect of an earthquake on a specific location. Peak Ground Velocities (PGV) of a ground motion is used extensively in the recent years as a measure of...
Anharmonicity of zone-center optical phonons: Raman scattering spectra of GaSe0.5S0.5 layered crystal
Hasanlı, Nızamı; Kocabas, C; Ozkan, H (IOP Publishing, 2002-06-01)
The temperature dependencies (10-300 K) of the eight Raman-active mode frequencies and linewidths in GaSe0.5S0.5 layered crystal have been measured in the frequency range from 10 to 320 cm(-1). We observed softening and broadening of the optical phonon lines with increasing temperature. Comparison of the experimental data with the theories of the shift and broadening of the interlayer and intralayer phonon lines showed that the temperature dependencies can be explained by the contributions from thermal expa...
