Synthesis of a regular polymer containing pseudo-polyether cages
Cihaner, A; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Elsevier BV, 2005-04-20)
A new compound consisting of 2-thienyl units linked by polyether bridge has been synthesized and its electrochemical polymerization was performed via constant potential electrolysis (CPE) in an electrolytic solution containing 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF(6)) dissolved in CH3CN. Chemical polymerization was carried out using FeCl3 as oxidizing agent. It is found that both methods gave the same polymer product without any cleavage of the polyether bridge between thiophene (Th) rings. Al...
Synthesis of tridentate ligands based on theroretical design to mimic HPCD enzyme
Gökçe, Muzaffer; Özçubukçu, Salih; Department of Chemistry (2018)
There is an increasing interest on the aromatic oxidative ring opening reactions due to their challenging features. Among these reactions, the ones using molecular oxygen attract even more attention. In one of these aromatic ring opening reactions, homoprotocatechuate dioxygenase (HPCD) enzyme is used as a catalyst. The active site of this enzyme consists of either iron or manganese ions. In this work, two tridentate ligands have been designed theoretically in order to mimic the active site of this enzyme t...
Synthesis of a dipyrromethane functionalized monomer and optoelectrochromic properties of its polymer
Ak, Metin; Gancheva, Valeria; Terlemezyan, Levon; Tanyeli, Ghangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2008-08-01)
A dipyrromethane functionalized monomer; 5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)dipyrromethane (BPDP) was synthesized. The structure of the monomer was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies. Electrochemical polymerization of BPDP was performed in acetonitrile (AN)/LiClO4. The resulting conducting polymer was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and electrical conductivity measurements. Spectroelectrochemical behavior and switching ability of P(B...
Synthesis of a new orthorhombic metastable form of CdS through solid-state reactions
Bi̇lgi̇n, M.; Kızılyallı, Meral; Usanmaz, Ali (Elsevier BV, 1989-5)
CdS has been prepared through solid-gas reactions of CdO with a sulfidizing gas mixture, at 750°C for 3 hr, and slow cooling under nitrogen atmosphere. The X-ray diffraction data of the product was indexed in a hexagonal system with unit cell parameters of a = 4.136 and c = 6.713Å, which agreed with the literature data. However, the presence of extra strong lines in the X-ray diffraction pattern and the splitting in the d-spacings showed that a new orthorhombic form of CdS was obtained. The unit cell dimens...
Synthesis of mfı type zeolite membranes in a continuous system
Çulfaz, Pınar Zeynep; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
MFI type zeolites, are the most widely studied zeolites for membrane separations. Conventionally, zeolite membranes are prepared in batch systems by hydrothermal synthesis in autoclaves. This method has several disadvantages for use in industrial scale for the synthesis of membranes with large areas and complex geometries that are commonly used in membrane modules. The objective of this study is to prepare MFI type zeolite membranes on tubular alumina supports in a continuous system where the synthesis solu...
