In this thesis, we give a detailed review of the Ricci and Cotton flows in 3 dimensional geometries. We especially study the flows of Thurston's 9 geometries which are used to classify 3 dimensional manifolds.

On the tight contact structures on seıfert fibred 3−manifolds with 4 singular fibers
Medetoğulları, Elif; Ozan, Yıldıray; Department of Mathematics (2010)
In this thesis, we study the classification problem of Stein fillable tight contact structures on any Seifert fibered 3−manifold M over S 2 with 4 singular fibers. In the case e0(M) · −4 we have a complete classification. In the case e0(M) ¸ 0 we have obtained upper and lower bounds for the number of Stein fillable contact structures on M.
Computer assisted analysis of flow over spillway chutes
Kıranoğlu, Meriç; Yanmaz, A. Melih.; Department of Civil Engineering (2019)
In this study, a literature review is conducted in terms of assumptions, approaches, and various calculation methods used for the analysis of flow over conventional and stepped type spillways. In guidance of this review, a software is developed to perform such analyses with the set of given data by the user, and display results with some tables and figures. To this end, water surface profile over the spillway face is determined considering air entrainment process, pressure distribution over the crest under ...
Spectrophotometric and amperometric biosensors based on conducting polymers of 1-Benzyl-2,5-DI(Thiophen-2-YL)-1H-Pyrrole and (4,7-Dithien-2-YL-2,1,3-Benzothiadiazole)
Tanrıverdi, Simla; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Timur, Suna; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2012)
In this thesis, two different biosensors based on conducting polymers of (4,7-dithien-2-yl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole) (TBTD) and 1-benzyl-2,5 di(thiophene-2-yl)-1H-Pyrrole (SNBS) were prepared. Electrochemical technique was used for polymerization of conducting polymers and two different immobilization techniques were used for immobilizing enzyme into the conducting polymer matrices. The proposed biosensors were characterized and optimized. Optimum pH, thickness, enzyme amount were determined and linearity, re...
Einstein aether gravity
Akbaba, Esin; Karasu, Atalay; Department of Physics (2009)
In this thesis, we review some basic properties of the Einstein-aether gravity. We derive the field equations from an action and study a subclass of this theory corresponding to the Einstein-Maxwell like theory. We also show that the Gödel type metrics are also exact solutions of this theory. Furthermore, we determine the observational constraints on the dimensionless preferred parameters of this theory using the parametrized post- Newtonian formalism. We stress that none of calculations and discussions are...
Active role of the support in NOx storage and reductioncatalytic systems
Tek, Mustafa; Toffoli, Hande; Toffoli, Daniele (2015-11-15)
We present first-principles density functional theory calculations of the adsorption properties of NO2 and SO2 on isolated (BaO)(n) (n = 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9) clusters as well as on small BaO clusters ((BaO)(n) with n = 1, 2, 4) supported on the anatase TiO2(001) surface. The TiO2 support influences binding indirectly by enhancing the electron donation from the BaO clusters to both chemisorbed NO2 and the support. This support-mediated increase in stability is not observed for SO2. We describe in detail and hig...
