Optimal pricing and ordering policy for non-instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and customer returns
Ghoreishi, M.; Mirzazadeh, A.; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm (Informa UK Limited, 2014-01-01)
This paper deals with an economic production quantity inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items under inflationary conditions considering customer returns. We adopt a price-and time-dependent demand function. Also, the customer returns are considered as a function of both price and demand. The effects of time value of money are studied using the Discounted Cash Flow approach. The main objective is to determine the optimal selling price, the optimal replenishment cycles, and the optimal produ...
Optimal energy allocation policies for a high altitude flying wireless access point
Ceran, Elif Tugce; Erkilic, Tugce; Uysal, Elif; GİRİCİ, TOLGA; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2017-04-01)
Inspired by recent industrial efforts towards high altitude flying wireless access points powered by renewable energy, an online resource allocation problem for a mobile access point travelling at high altitude is formulated. The access point allocates its resources (available energy) to maximise the total utility (reward) provided to a sequentially observed set of users demanding service. The problem is formulated as a 0/1 dynamic knapsack problem with incremental capacity over a finite time horizon, and t...
Optimal lot-sizing/vehicle-dispatching policies under stochastic lead times and stepwise fixed costs
Alp, O; Erkip, NK; Gullu, R (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), 2003-01-01)
We characterize optimal policies of a dynamic lot-sizing/vehicle-dispatching problem under dynamic deterministic demands and stochastic lead times. An essential feature of the problem is the structure of the ordering cost, where a fixed cost is incurred every time a batch is initiated (or a vehicle is hired) regardless of the portion of the batch (or vehicle) utilized. Moreover, for every unit of demand not satisfied on time, holding and backorder costs are incurred. Under mild assumptions we show that the ...
Optimal Pricing and Production Planning Decisions in Reusable Container Systems
Atamer, Büşra; Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Bakal, İsmail Serdar (2010-08-23)
Optimal pricing and production planning decisions in reusable container systems Büsra Atamer, Ismail Bakal, Pelin Bayindir Middle East Technical University, Industrial Engineering Department, Turkey The main objective of the study is to focus on the decision making problems in reusable container systems with stochastic demand. Optimal pricing and production planning decisions in reusable container systems result in more pro!table and environmental-friendly production alternatives for manufacturers an...
Optimal allocation policies in a two-echelon inventory problem with fixed shipment costs
Gullu, R; Erkip, N (1996-12-01)
This study investigates the stock allocation problems in a two-echelon distribution system which consists of a central warehouse and two identical retailers. We restrict our attention to two-period order cycles where the period lengths are allowed to be different. Shipments from the supplier to the warehouse arrive at the beginning of the order cycle (i.e. at the beginning of the first period). In each order cycle, there are two shipment opportunities from the warehouse to the retailers: at the beginning of...
