Using Electronic Energy Derivative Information in Automated Potential Energy Surface Construction for Vibrational Calculations
Sparta, Manuel; Hansen, Mikkel B.; Matito, Eduard; Toffolı, Danıele; Christiansen, Ove (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2010-10-01)
The availability of an accurate representation of the potential energy surface (PES) is an essential prerequisite in an anharmonic vibrational calculation. At the same time, the high dimensionality of the fully coupled PES and the adverse scaling properties with respect to the molecular size make the construction of an accurate PES a computationally demanding task. In the past few years, our group tested and developed a series of tools and techniques aimed at defining computationally efficient, black-box pr...
Using collaboration diagrams in component oriented modelin
Tuncel, Mehmet Burhan; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2006)
Component Oriented Software Engineering (COSE) seems to be the future of software engineering. Currently, COSEML is the only modeling language that completely supports the COSE approach. Abstract decomposition of the system and their representing components are shown in a hierarchy diagram to support the COSE process model. In COSEML, only static modeling is supported through this single diagram. However, software is about behavior and static modeling is not sufficient to describe the system. The aim of thi...
Using genetic algorithms for single-machine bicriteria scheduling problems
Köksalan, Mustafa Murat; Keha, AB (2003-03-16)
We consider two bicriteria scheduling problems on a single machine: minimizing flowtime and number of tardy jobs, and minimizing flowtime and maximum earliness. Both problems are known to be NP-hard. For the first problem, we developed a heuristic that produces an approximately efficient solution (AES) for each possible value the number of tardy jobs can take over the set of efficient solutions. We developed a genetic algorithm (GA) that further improves the AESs. We then adapted the GA for the second probl...
