Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane over a monolith coated by molybdenum-vanadium-niobium mixed-oxide catalyst
Karamullaoglu, G; Doğu, Timur (2003-10-01)
Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene was investigated using Mo0.71V0.21N0.08 mixed-oxide catalyst. in powder form and coated over a monolith. At 570degreesC and with a feed stream containing an O-2/C2H6 mole ratio of one. ethylene selectivity value reaching to 96% was obtained Lit a conversion level of about 5% with the monolith-supported catalyst. DRIFTS studies indicated the presence of adsorbed ethoxide species. The proposed reaction scheme for the production of ethylene includes the eliminati...
Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane over chromium-vanadium mixed oxide and chromium oxide catalysts
Karamullaoglu, Gulsun; Doğu, Timur (2007-10-24)
Oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene was investigated at temperatures below 500 degrees C over Cr-O and Cr-V-0 oxide'catalysts prepared by the complexation method. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, H-2 TPR, and XPS techniques. The Cr-O catalyst was more active than Cr-V-0 mixed oxide in the selective oxidation of ethane using 02 or CO2 as the oxidant. Cr-O showed activity at temperatures as low as 250 degrees C. TPR results showing easier reduction of Cr-O at much lower temperatures than C...

Oxidative coupling of methane over NbO (p-type) and Nb2O5 (n-type) semiconductor materials
Erarslanoglu, Y; Onal, I; Doğu, Timur; Senkan, S (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1996-01-01)
Oxidative coupling of methane to higher hydrocarbons was investigated using two types of semiconductor catalysts, NbO (p-type) and Nb2O5 (n-type) at 1 atm pressure. The ratio of methane partial pressure to oxygen partial pressure was changed from 2 to 112 and the temperature was kept at 1023 K in the experiments conducted in a cofeed mode. The results indicated a strong correlation between C-2+ selectivity performance and the electronic properties of the catalyst in terms of p- vs. n-type conductivity. The ...
Oxidative ring opening reactions of a-hydroxy ketones
Aybey, Ayşe; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Department of Chemistry (2008)
Chiral polyfunctionalized 1,5-dicarbonyl compounds are important synthetic intermediates and starting materials for many biologically active compounds so their synthesis has a great importance in the literature. In the first step, 1,3-cyclohexandione and other b-diketone derivatives are protected under acid catalyzation and their corresponding b-keto enol ether derivatives are obtained. These b-keto enol ethers are then converted to a-acetoxy enones in racemic form by Mn(OAc)3 mediated oxidation. Enzymatic ...
