In vitro evaluation of PLLA/PBS sponges as a promising biodegradable scaffold for neural tissue engineering
Kanneci Altinisik, Irem Ayse; Kök, Fatma Neşe; Yucel, Deniz; KÖSE, GAMZE (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, 2017-01-01)
In tissue engineering, the use of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)/polybutylene succinate (PBS) blend for the construction of scaffold is very limited. Moreover, polymeric sponges fabricated from PLLA/PBS have not been studied for neural tissue engineering. In the present study, the potential of the utility of PLLA/PBS polymeric sponges seeded with Schwann cells was investigated. PLLA and PBS were blended in order to increase the processability and tune the crystallinity, porosity, and degradation rate of the resu...
In Vitro Assessment of Bioactive Glass Coatings on Alumina/Zirconia Composite Implants for Potential Use in Prosthetic Applications
Baino, Francesco; Minguella-Canela, Joaquim; Korkusuz, Feza; KORKUSUZ, PETEK; Kankilic, Berna; Angeles Montealegre, Maria; Antonia De los Santos-Lopez, M.; Vitale-Brovarone, Chiara (MDPI AG, 2019-02-01)
Achieving the stable osteointegration of prosthetic implants is one of the great challenges of modern orthopedic surgery. The fixation of ceramic acetabular cups of hip joint prostheses is usually achieved using a metal shell provided with screws or pegs that penetrate into the host pelvic bone. The deposition of bioactive coatings on the implant surface to be put in contact with bone could be a valuable strategy to promote a more physiological osteointegration. In this work, bioactive glass porous coatings...
In vitro bioactivity investigation of alkali treated Ti6Al7Nb alloy foams
Butev, Ezgi; ESEN, ZİYA; Bor, Sakir (2015-02-01)
Biocompatible Ti6Al7Nb alloy foams with 70% porosity manufactured by space holder method were activated via alkali treatment using 5 M NaOH solution at 60 degrees C. The interconnected pore structures enabled formation of homogenous sodium rich coating on the foam surfaces by allowing penetration of alkali solution throughout the pores which had average size of 200 mu m. The resulted coating layer having 500 nm thickness exhibited porous network morphology with 100 nm pore size. On the other hand, heat trea...
In vitro performance of a nanobiocomposite scaffold containing boron-modified bioactive glass nanoparticles for dentin regeneration
Rad, Reza Moonesi; Pazarçeviren, Ahmet Engin; Akguen, Elif Ece; Evis, Zafer; Keskin, Dilek; Sahin, Sila; Tezcaner, Ayşen (SAGE Publications, 2019-01-01)
Every year, many dental restoration methods are carried out in the world and most of them do not succeed. High cost of these restorations and rejection possibility of the implants are main drawbacks. For this reason, a regenerative approach for repairing the damaged dentin-pulp complex or generating a new tissue is needed. In this study, the potential of three-dimensional cellulose acetate/oxidized pullulan/gelatin-based dentin-like constructs containing 10 or 20% bioactive glass nanoparticles was studied t...
In vitro evaluation of injectable Tideglusib-loaded hyaluronic acid hydrogels incorporated with Rg1-loaded chitosan microspheres for vital pulp regeneration

Injectable systems receive attention in endodontics due to the complicated and irregular anatomical structure of root canals. Here, injectable Tideglusib (Td)-loaded hyaluronic acid hydrogels (HAH) incorporated with Rg1loaded chitosan microspheres (CSM) were developed for vital pulp regeneration, providing release of Td and Rg1 to trigger odontoblastic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) by Td and vascularization of pulp by Rg1. The optimal concentrations were determined as 90 nM and 50 m...
