Studies on epoxy modified with recycled rubber
Sipahi-Saglam, E; Kaynak, Cevdet; Akovali, G; YETMEZ, MEHMET; AKKAŞ, NURİ (Wiley, 2001-03-01)
This work covers studies on systems with car tire regrind used as the toughening phase in epoxy resins. Different surface modification techniques were used to improve the compatibility at the interface between the rubber particles and the epoxy matrix Silane coupling agents, plasma surface modification and acrylic acid/benzoylperoxide were used to enhance the surface properties of rubber particles. Rubber parts of ground used car tires, with or without surface treatment, were mixed with epoxy. This mixture ...
Studies on blended cements containing a high volume of natural pozzolans
Uzal, B; Turanlı, Lutfullah (Elsevier BV, 2003-11-01)
This paper presents the results of an investigation on the characteristics of laboratory-produced blended portland cements containing 55% by weight volcanic tuffs from Turkey. Volcanic tuffs from two different resources were used. Using different grinding times, particle size distribution, setting time, compressive strength, and alkali-silica activity of the blended cements were investigated and compared with reference portland cements ground for the same time period. For the compressive strength test, a su...
STUDIES ON IMMOBILIZATION OF UREASE IN GELATIN BY CROSS-LINKING
SUNGUR, S; ELCIN, YM; Akbulut, Ural (Elsevier BV, 1992-01-01)
Urease enzyme was immobilized in photographic gelatin by chemical cross-linking using formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde and chromium (III) acetate. The effects of enzyme and cross-linker concentrations, temperature, incubation time and pH on urea hydrolysis were investigated. Effect of reuse on the activity of immobilized enzyme was also studied. Glutaraldehyde (0.004 M) was the most suitable cross-linker; relative activities within 2.5 months after 24 reuses were stable (about 78%).

Studies on selective adsorption of aqueous glucose or fructose on various cationic forms of Zeolite Y
Yeşiltepe, Suat Bora; Kıncal, N. Suzan; Department of Biotechnology (2006)
The equilibria of adsorption on calcium and hydrogen forms of zeolite Y by equimolar solutions of 12.5 %, 20%, 25%, 30% and 35% w/v of mixtures of glucose, G and fructose, F; also the non-equimolar mixtures of 20% w/v glucose - 30% w/v fructose, 30% w/v glucose - 20% w/v fructose, 25% w/v glucose 35% w/v fructose, and 35% w/v glucose-25% w/v fructose solutions, which were prepared 24 hours in advance at the experimental temperature, have been studied batch wise at 50ºC. Glucose adsorption, in solutions tha...
