Mutual coupling calibration of antenna arrays for direction-of-arrival estimation
Aksoy, Taylan; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
An antenna array is an indispensable portion of a direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation operation. A number of error sources in the arrays degrade the DOA estimation accuracy. Mutual coupling effect is one of the main error sources and should be corrected for any antenna array. In this thesis, a system theoretic approach is presented for mutual coupling characterization of antenna arrays. In this approach, the idea is to model the mutual coupling effect through a simple linear transformation between the mea...
Mutual coupling of printed elements on a cylindrically layered structure using closed-form Green's functions
Acar, R. C.; Dural, G. (EMW Publishing, 2008-01-01)
A hybrid method to calculate mutual coupling of electric or magnetic current elements on a cylindrically layered structure using closed-form Green's functions is presented. When rho = rho' and phi is not very close to phi', closed-form Green's functions are employed in the calculation of MoM matrix entries. When both rho = rho' and phi = phi', series representation of the spectral domain Green's functions do not converge, therefore closed-form Green's functions can not be employed. In that case MoM matrix e...
MUTUAL COUPLING EFFECTS OF FINITE RECTANGULAR PHASED-ARRAYS
YAVUZ, H; BUYUKDURA, OM (1994-04-14)
A rigorous integral equation formulation for the analysis of a phased array of flangemounted waveguide apertures is given for a finite number of elements and nonuniform spacings. The resulting set of ihtegrd equations is reduced to a matrix equation called the coupling matrix which relates the coefficients of all the modes in all the waveguides to one another. The solution then yields the dominant mode reflection coefficient, coefficients of scattered modes and hence the field in each waveguide. The blockTo...
Mutual information model selection algorithm for time series
Akca, Elif; Yozgatlıgil, Ceylan (Informa UK Limited, 2020-09-01)
Time series model selection has been widely studied in recent years. It is of importance to select the best model among candidate models proposed for a series in terms of explaining the procedure that governs the series and providing the most accurate forecast for the future observations. In this study, it is aimed to create an algorithm for order selection in Box-Jenkins models that combines penalized natural logarithm of mutual information among the original series and predictions coming from each candida...
Cooperative diversity in carrier frequency offset
Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2007-04-01)
Cooperative diversity can enjoy the same benefits of MIMO systems when there is no possibility of carrying multiple antennas on a communication terminal. The main distinction between MIMO and cooperative diversity systems is the inherent asynchronism in the latter. We propose a model to study the effects of carrier frequency offset along with symbol asynchronism. Based on the proposed model, a Viterbi equalizer is utilized as a solution for demodulation. Through simulations, it is observed that such a solut...
