Speech recognition on mobile devices in noisy environments
Yurtcan, Yaser; Günel Kılıç, Banu (2018-05-05)
The use of speech recognition on mobile devices has been possible with the development of cloud systems and has been used for about 10 years. However, in noisy environments, the problem of speech recognition with low error rate still persists. In this study, different speech samples have been recorded using a compact microphone array in noisy environments and a data set has been created by processing them with a real-time noise cancellation algorithm. Speech recognition performance has been tested on the ge...
SPEECH DETECTION ON BROADCAST AUDIO
Zubari, Unal; Ozan, Ezgi Can; Acar, Banu Oskay; Çiloğlu, Tolga; Esen, Ersin; Ates, Tugrul K.; Onur, Duygu Oskay (2010-08-27)
Speech boundary detection contributes to performance of speech based applications such as speech recognition and speaker recognition. Speech boundary detector implemented in this study works on broadcast audio as a pre-processor module of a keyword spotter. Speech boundary detection is handled in 3 steps. At first step, audio data is segmented into homogeneous regions in an unsupervised manner. After an ACTIVITY/NON-ACTIVITY decision is made for each region, ACTIVITY regions are classified as Speech/Non-spe...
Delay Analysis for Wireless Communication Systems with Caching
Atak, Kunter; Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda (2019-01-01)
In this work, a two-tier heterogeneous network is studied. Both base stations and end-devices are capable of caching. A suboptimal cache placement algorithm is proposed for lower delays assuming a statistical mobility model. The results are compared with a lower bound, the effects of the number of base stations and cache capacities are investigated, and the tradeoff between network load ratio and delay is shown.
Noise Estimation for Hyperspectral Imagery using Spectral Unmixing and Synthesis
DEMİRKESEN, CAN; Leloğlu, Uğur Murat (2014-09-25)
Most hyperspectral image (HSI) processing algorithms assume a signal to noise ratio model in their formulation which makes them dependent on accurate noise estimation. Many techniques have been proposed to estimate the noise. A very comprehensive comparative study on the subject is done by Gao et al. [1]. In a nut-shell, most techniques are based on the idea of calculating standard deviation from assumed-to-be homogenous regions in the image. Some of these algorithms work on a regular grid parameterized wit...
