Calculation of the Macroeconomic Carbon Rebound Effect of the European Union Emission Trading System
Bolat, Cankut Kaan; Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin; Soytaş, Uğur; Department of Earth System Science (2022-11-15)
Emission trading systems are currently the most popular market–based instruments in the combat against climate change. The European Union Emission Trading System is the world's oldest and most mature ETS application. Having announced its net zero targets in February 2022, it is on Türkiye’s agenda to implement an ETS application to meet the country’s net zero targets. While there is rich literature showing the benefits of ETS applications from different perspectives, very few studies question their efficien...
Estimation of earthquake damage probabilities for reinforced concrete buildings
Yücemen, Mehmet Semih (2003-05-13)
Due to uncertainties involved both in the occurrence of earthquakes and in structural response, earthquake damage prediction has to be treated in a probabilistic manner. In this study two statistical methods are presented for the prediction of potential seismic damage to low and mid-rise reinforced concrete buildings in Turkey. These methods are based on the utilization of damage probability matrices and reliability theory. The damage data compiled during recent earthquakes that occurred in Turkey are used ...

Türkiye de Şehirlerarası Yük Trafiği CO2 Emisyonlarının Tahmini

Recently, road freight transportation dominates the freight sector in many countries including Turkey, which is causing a growing concern about environmental and sustainability issues. To develop better policies, road freight emissions have to be determined. Such evaluations are very challenging in the absence of disaggregate commodity flow data, which is the case in Turkey. As a solution, to calculate truck freight transportation emissions a model that combines national level national freight transportatio...
Estimation of silica scaling temperatures of Kizildere geothermal field effluent, Turkey
Ariturk, S; Parlaktuna, Mahmut (2001-07-01)
A computer program, SPECIATION, was developed to deter-mine the detailed composition of an aqueous solution and the concentrations and activities of all species. Once the detailed composition of an aqueous solution is known, it is possible to determine the saturation level of the solution with respect to any mineral, which is silica for this study.
