Synthesis of magnetic bioactive glass
Taşar, Cansu; Ercan, Batur (2021-06-10)
Magnetization of bio-glasses (BG) to target tissues is challenging. To identify the optimal magnetite content for BG, samples having various amounts of magnetic phase were prepared. Magnetic bioactive glasses were fabricated by solgel technique and calcined for two hours at 500 ˚C. Samples were named according to magnetite content (wt%) as 10%Fe3O4-BG, 20%Fe3O4-BG, 30%Fe3O4-BG. SEM and XRD investigations were completed on Fe3O4-BG particles. Biological results revealed that samples were not toxic upon their...

Synthesis of zirconium tungstate-zirconia core-shell composite particles
Khazeni, Nasser; MAVİŞ, BORA; Gündüz, Güngör; Colak, Uner (Elsevier BV, 2011-11-01)
In this work, ZrW(2)O(8)-ZrO(2) core-shell composite particles were synthesized. ZrW(2)O(8) that was used in the core is a material with negative coefficient of thermal expansion, and it was synthesized from a high-pH precursor based on use of tungstic acid and zirconium acetate. Shell layer was composed of ZrO(2) nanocrystallites and precipitated from an aqueous solution by urea hydrolysis. While volume of the shell was effectively controlled by the initial zirconium ion concentration in the solutions, the...
Synthesis of AlNiCo core/shell nanopowders
Genc, A. M.; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Öztürk, Tayfur; Kalay, Yunus Eren (2016-11-01)
Magnetic core/shell nanostructures have been recently received much interest owing to their utmost potential in permanent magnetic applications. In the present work, AlNiCo permanent magnet powders were synthesized by ball milling and a core/shell nanostructure was obtained using RF induced plasma. The effects of particle size and nanoshell structure on the magnetic properties were investigated in details. The coercivity of AlNiCo powders was found to increase with decreasing particle size, exclusively nano...
Synthesis of germanium nanowires by vapor transport and fabrication of fully transparent flexible photodetectors
Aksoy, Burcu; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2012)
Nanomaterials are widely investigated by researches and because of their unique properties they have been utilized in many different devices. Nanowires are one of these materials which show deviated mechanical, chemical, physical and optical, properties from their bulk counterparts. These deviations in properties of the nanowires are based on both their high surface to volume ratio and quantum confinement effect. Lately optical properties of nanowires have received great attention as they also exhibit good ...
