Cobalt-nickel-phosphorus supported on Pd-activated TiO2 (Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2) as cost-effective and reusable catalyst for hydrogen generation from hydrolysis of alkaline sodium borohydride solution
Rakap, Murat; Kalu, Egwu Eric; Özkar, Saim (2011-06-23)
Catalytically active, low-cost, and reusable transition metal catalysts are desired to develop on-demand hydrogen generation system for practical onboard applications. Electrolessly deposited Pd-activated TiO2-supported Co-Ni-P ternary alloy catalyst (Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2) is employed as catalyst in the hydrolysis of alkaline sodium borohydride solution. The catalyst is found to be isolable, redispersible, and reusable in the hydrolysis of alkaline NaBH4. The reported work also includes the full experimental det...
Cobalt Oxide Nanoflakes on Single Walled Carbon Nanotube Thin Films for Supercapacitor Electrodes
Durukan, Mete Batuhan; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (2016-12-20)
We demonstrate a simple and cost-effective approach for the fabrication of cobalt oxide (Co3O4) nanoflakes on single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) thin films for supercapacitor electrodes. SWNT thin films are prepared by vacuum filtration and consecutive stamping method onto which cobalt hydroxide (Co(OH)(2)) nanoflakes are electrodeposited and annealed to obtain Co3O4. A gravimetric capacitance of 313.9 F.g(-1), corresponding to an areal specific capacitance of 70.5 mF.cm(-2) is obtained from the fabricate...
Cobalt borate phosphate, Co-3[BPO7], synthesis and characterization
Yılmaz, Ayşen; Bu, XH; Kizilyalli, M; Kniep, R; Stucky, GD (Elsevier BV, 2001-02-01)
Single crystals of Co-3[BPO7],I were obtained by boron flux method and characterized by single-crystal diffraction data. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cm with 9.774(2), b = 12.688(2), c = 4.9057(8) Angstrom, beta = 119.749(2)degrees; V= 528.20(15) Angstrom (3); Z = 4. The structure consists of Co in trigonal bipyramids, square pyramids, and distorted octahedra. Polyhedral Co centers, triangular B centers, and tetrahedral P centers are joined together to form a three-dimensional net...
Cobalt ferrite supported platinum nanoparticles: Superb catalytic activity and outstanding reusability in hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane
Akbayrak, Serdar; Özkar, Saim (2021-08-15)
In this work, platinum(0) nanoparticles are deposited on the surface of magnetic cobalt ferrite forming magnetically separable Pt-0/CoFe2O4 nanoparticles, which are efficient catalysts in H-2 generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane. Catalytic activity of Pt-0/CoFe2O4 nanoparticles decreases with the increasing platinum loading, parallel to the average particle size. Pt-0/CoFe2O4 (0.23% wt. Pt) nanoparticles have an average diameter of 2.30 +/- 0.47 nm and show an extraordinary turnover frequency of...
Copper removal from regenerated pickling solutions of steel plants
Sütcü, Esra; Öztürk, Abdullah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2020)
Pickling is a metal surface treatment technique, made by strong inorganic acids to prepare metals for subsequent processes. The process generates a substantial amount of waste acid because large amount of acid is spent during the process. The impact of the waste acid to the environment is noticeable. The waste solution contains the contaminants of the metal surface and it is also a source of valuable products, metal salts and copper. When the concentration of copper in the pickling solution exceeds the lev...
