Effects of retempering on consistency and compressive strength of concrete subjected to prolonged mixing
Kirca, O; Turanlı, Lutfullah; Erdoğan, Turhan Y. (2002-03-01)
In this study, effects of prolonged mixing and four different retempering processes on some proper-ties of fresh and hardened concrete, such as temperature, slump loss, and strength, were investigated. Two types of concrete mixtures with different compression strength having 15 cm initial slump were produced in a laboratory mixer. After mixing for 5 min at 20 rpm speed to ensure homogeneity, the mixing was continued at 4 rpm for a period of up to 4 h to simulate the prolonged agitation of ready-mixed concre...
Effects of retempering with superplasticizer on properties of prolonged mixed mineral admixture containing concrete a hot weather conditions
Yazan, Kazım; Turanlı, Lutfullah; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
Concrete which is manufactured in a mixing plant to be delivered to construction site in unhardened and plastic stage is called ready-mixed concrete. Because of technical and economical reasons, many mineral and chemical admixtures are used in ready-mixed concrete production. As a result of extra mixing and delayed placing of ready-mixed concrete (especially at hot weather conditions), there can be many problems about concrete, like slump loss. Addition of water for retempering concrete is the usual procedu...
Effects of an edible coating and cold storage on shelf-life and quality of cherries
Yaman, O; Bayoindirli, L (2002-01-01)
The effects of an edible coating, i.e. Semperfresh(TM) and cold storage on shelf-life and duality of cherries there studied. Taro groups of cherries (Prunus avium) were coated just after harvest with 10 and 20 g/L Semperfresh(TM) fruit coating which is composed of sucrose esters of fatty acids, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and mono-diglycerides of fatty-acids. Half of the cherries from each of the above groups was stored at ambient temperature (similar to30+/-3degreesC) and at 40-50% relative humidity, th...
Effects of water immersion on the recovery of upper and lower body anaerobic power following a wrestling session
Cengiz, Asım; Koçak, Mehmet Settar (2016-01-01)
The aim of this study was to examine effects of cold-water immersion after exercise on powerresponses of wrestlers. Twenty elite male wrestlers were formed by similar age, height, weight and fitness parameters. The wrestling training session included a 60-minute of vigorous exercise. It consisted of warm-up exercises, standing technical and tactical exercises that mostly allocates arm and leg muscles. Vertical jump height, ropes climb height, and delayed onset of soreness was measured before, after, 24 h an...
Effects of high hydrostatic pressure on microflora and some quality attributes of grape juice
MERT, Mecnun; BUZRUL, Sencer; Alpas, Hami (2013-03-01)
Red and white grape juices were treated with high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) at three different pressures, temperature and time values to investigate the effects of HHP on natural microflora and some quality attributes of the juices. Increased pressure, temperature and time showed significant effect on the microbial reduction and no microbial growth were observed in HHP-treated grape juices up to 90 days. HHP had little or no effect on pH and color of the juices. Although 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) forma...
