Gibbs Sampling in Inference of Copula Gaussian Graphical Model Adapted to Biological Networks
Purutçuoğlu Gazi, Vilda (2017-09-01)
Markov chain Monte Carlo methods (MCMC) are iterative algorithms that are used in many Bayesian simulation studies, where the inference cannot be easily obtained directly through the defined model. Reversible jump MCMC methods belong to a special type of MCMC methods, in which the dimension of parameters can change in each iteration. In this study, we suggest Gibbs sampling in place of RJMCMC, to decrease the computational demand of the calculation of high dimensional systems. We evaluate the performance of...
Self excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently connected capacitors and recommendations for IEEE Std 141-1993
Ermiş, Muammer; Cadirci, I; Zenginobuz, G; Tezcan, H (2000-10-12)
Self-excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently-connected capacitors is investigated in this paper. Theoretical analyses of self-excitation phenomenon are carried out by using some simplified equivalent circuits, and a hybrid mathematical model in ABC/dq axes, respectively in steady-state, and transient-state. An unusual operating condition about water pumping stations is reported, in which water within the pipeline may drive the motor in the reverse direction at speeds higher than synchronou...
Automatic Prior Shape Selection for Image Segmentation
Guo, Weihong; Qin, Jing; Tarı, Zehra Sibel (2013-07-01)
Segmenting images with occluded and missing intensity information is still a difficult task. Intensity based segmentation approaches often lead to wrong results. High vision prior information such as prior shape has been proven to be effective in solving this problem. Most existing shape prior approaches assume known prior shape and segmentation results rely on the selection of prior shape. In this paper, we study how to do simultaneous automatic prior shape selection and segmentation in a variational scheme.
Using Active Learning to Allow Activity Recognition on a Large Scale
Alemdar, Hande; ERSOY, CEM (2011-11-18)
Automated activity recognition systems that use probabilistic models require labeled data sets in training phase for learning the model parameters. The parameters are different for every person and every environment. Therefore, for every person or environment, training is needed to be performed from scratch. Obtaining labeled data requires much effort therefore poses challenges on the large scale deployment of activity recognition systems. Active learning can be a solution to this problem. It is a machine l...
Digital output ROIC with single slope ADC for cooled infrared applications
Akyurek, Fatih; Bayram, Barış (2017-04-01)
The objective of this research is to develop an ADC stage integrated into ROIC which enables ROIC to have digital output. Digital output method isolates noise caused by outside mediums. At the system level, removal of the ADC proximity card reduces system complexity and volume of the IDDCA system which is important for avionic and missile applications. It also reduces the system cost associated with external ADC components. A digital output ROIC utilizing single slope ADC is fabricated using 0.18 A mu m CMO...
