The acid form of bis(acetylacetone)ethylenedimine, H(2)acacen, was isolated as colorless needle like crystals from condensation reaction of ethylenediamine with acetylacetone at room temperature and fully characterized by MS, IR, H-1- and C-13-NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray structure analysis. The spectroscopic and structural data show the existence of intramolecular N-H...O hydrogen bonding assisted by resonance in the solid protonated form of bis(acetylacetone)ethylenediimine. The intramolecular ionic hydrogen bonding is observed in the enolic form of bis(acetylacetone)ethylenediamine and described by 'resonance assisted hydrogen bonding' model which is essentially a synergetic mutual reinforcement of hydrogen bonding and pi delocalization within the heterodienic system. In this intramolecular ionic hydrogen bonding, the proton is transferred from the enolic oxygen atom to the imine nitrogen atom leaving a negative charge on the oxygen and creating a positive charge on the nitrogen

Why Does Asn71 Deamidate Faster Than Asn15 in the Enzyme Triosephosphate Isomerase? Answers from Microsecond Molecular Dynamics Simulation and QM/MM Free Energy Calculations

Deamidation is the uncatalyzed process by which asparagine or glutamine can be transformed into aspartic acid or glutamic acid, respectively. In its active homodimeric form, mammalian triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) contains two deamidation sites per monomer. Experimental evidence shows that the primary deamidation site (Asn71-Gly72) deamidates faster than the secondary deamidation site (Asn15-Gly16). To evaluate the factors controlling the rates of these two deamidation sites in TPI, we have performed grap...
Polymerisation of bis(trichlorophenolato)tri(pyridine)nickel and bis (trihalophenolato)di(pyridine)nickel (II) complexes in solid state
Kisakurek, D; Aslan, A; Isci, H (2000-06-01)
The synthesis of five-coordinated bis(trihalophenolato)tri (pyridine)nickel (II) and four-coordinated his (trihalophenolato)di(pyridine) nickel(II) complexes from an aqueous solution and their characterisation by FT-IR, X-ray, DSC and elemental analysis is described. The thermal polymerisation of these complexes was carried out in the solid state and in the melt. Structural analyses were performed using H-1 NMRI C-13 NMR and FT-IR spectroscopic analyses. T(g)s were determined by differential thermal analysi...
ELECTROINITIATED POLYMERIZATION OF BIS(TRICHLOROPHENOXO)-TETRAMETHYLETHYLENE DIAMINE COPPER(II)
SACAK, M; Akbulut, Ural; KISAKUREK, D; TURKER, L; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 1989-04-01)
Electroninitiated polymerization of bis(trichlorophenoxo)‐N,N,N′,N′‐tetramethylethylene diamine copper(II) was achieved in acetonitrile at various peak potentials of the monomer. A constant potential approach was selected in polymerization reactions. Electrolyses were carried out under air, nitrogen, and oxygen atmospheres. Structural analyses of the polymers were done by 1H‐NMR and 13C‐NMR FT–IR spectroscopy. Molecular weights of the polymers were determined by vapor pressure (isopiestic) method.
Thermal polymerization of bis(4-fluoro-2,6-dibromophenolato)bis(pyridine)copper(II) complex in solution and in solid state
Kisakurek, D; Akbas, M; Bilir, N (Wiley, 1998-02-01)
The synthesis of the bis(4-fluoro-2,6-dibromophenolato)bis(pyridine)copper(II) complex was achieved from aqueous solution, and its characterization was performed by means-of IR and CHN elemental analysis. Thermal polymerization of this complex was carried out in toluene and in solid state. The structural analysis of the polymers was performed with H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and FTIR analysis; the glass transition temperature was found to be at 160 degrees C. 4-Fluoro-2,6-dibromophenolate, with the non-chelating liga...
Comparison of chemical fractionation method and H-1-NMR spectroscopy in measuring the monomer block distribution of algal alginates
Moral, Cigdem Kivilcimdan; Doğan, Özdemir; Sanin, Faika Dilek (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2013-05-01)
Alginates are composed of beta-D-mannuronic acid (M) and alpha-L-guluronic acid (G). In this study, block distributions of alginate samples were measured by a chemical fractionation method and H-1-NMR spectroscopy, to compare the usefulness of the two methods. Block distribution results obtained from the two methods were found to be statistically different from each other; the chemical fractionation method gave consistently lower estimates for the amount of homopolymeric blocks. The repeatability of the res...
