A Pseudospectral Analysis of Laminar Natural Convection Flow and Heat Transfer Between Two Inclined Parallel Plates
Tarı, İlker (2006-11-10)
A pseudospectral analysis of laminar natural convection and heat transfer between two inclined parallel plates
Kasapoğlu, Serkan; Tarı, İlker; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
Three dimensional laminar natural convection flow of and heat transfer in incompressible air between two inclined parallel plates are analyzed with the Boussinesq approximation by using spectral methods. The plates are assumed to be infinitely long in streamwise and spanwise directions. For these directions, periodic boundary conditions are used and for the normal direction constant wall temperature and no slip boundary conditions are used. Unsteady Navier-Stokes and energy equations are solved using a pseu...

A Rheological Characterization and Parametric Analysis of a Bentonite Sample
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
During the initial stage of this research, properties (x-ray, chemical analysis, swelling test, cation exchange capacity, and amount of clay) of bentonite samples were determined. The concentration effect on the rheological properties of bentonite suspension was determined at six different concentrations (20, 22.5, 24, 26, 28, and 30 gr/350 ml). Fann viscometer dial readings were measured at ten varying rates of shear600, 300, 200, 100, 60, 30, 20, 10, 6, and 3 rpm. A three-parameter Robertson-Stiff model, ...
A forward model of three-dimensional fracture orientation and characteristics
Tuncay, Kağan; Ortoleva, P (American Geophysical Union (AGU), 2000-07-10)
A new forward modeling approach to simulate the extension/closure and orientation statistics of evolving fracture networks is presented. The model is fully dynamical and couples fracturing to other processes. Thus, fracturing affects hydrology and, in turn, its development is affected by fluid pressure, in this way, highly pressured fluids can enhance their own migration while low-pressured ones may become trapped. Fracturing affects the stress tensor through rock volumetric changes and stress affects fract...
