This thesis focuses on finding a new MnO2-based cathode composition(s) for Zn-ion batteries. For this purpose combinatorial approach was employed using thick film cathodes deposited via magnetron sputtering. The system under study was MnO2 alloyed with NaMnO2, Bi2O3, NiO. Of the five small biradicaloid heterocycles whose S-1, S-2, T-1, and T-2 adiabatic excitation energies were examined by the CASPT2/ANO-L-VTZP method, two have been found to meet the state energy criterion for efficient e singlet fission and are recommended to the attention of synthetic chemists and photophysicists.

Results of a search for nonresonant production of Higgs boson pairs, with each Higgs boson decaying to a b (b) over bar pair, are presented.
