ZSM-5 catalysts were prepared by utilizing clinoptilolite found in Western Anatolia in abundant amounts as a type of natural zeolite. Hydrothermal reaction was conducted with HCl-treated clinoptilolite at 180 degrees C. After characterizing the solid products obtained by this reaction as ZSM-5 by means of XRD, IR, TGA, surface area analyzer, and chemical analysis they were tested as catalysts in benzene alkylation reaction with ethylene leading to ethylbenzene. Catalytic performance of samples prepared in this study was investigated for benzene conversion, ethylbenzene yield, and selectivity. It was found that ZSM-5(A) sample showed performance similar to that of the reference sample (ZSM-5(C)) synthesized by using patented literature information in terms of benzene conversion. When the reaction temperature was increased from 400 to 425 degrees C ethylbenzene yield and selectivity results of ZSM-5(A) sample were improved but coke formation increased. Catalyst test results indicated the possibility of using clinoptilolite as a raw material in the synthesis of ZSM-5 catalyst for alkylation of benzene with ethylene reaction.

Synthesis and characterization of polypyrrole/montmorillonite and polypyrrole/polypropylene compdsites
Börüban, Çetin; Küçükyavuz, Zuhal; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2007)
In this study, organo-montmorillonite (OMMT) nanocomposites containing 1%, 5%, 10% and 15% OMMT were prepared by in situ intercalative oxidative polymerization of pyrrole in the presence of OMMT. Thermal and morphological properties of the Polypyrrole(PPy)/OMMT nanocomposites were investigated by Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), X-ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Electrical conductivities of composites were measured by four probe technique. Formation of PPy and its i...
Synthesis and electro-optical properties of a new copolymer based on EDOT and carbazole
Akbayrak, Merve; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Informa UK Limited, 2016-01-01)
A new copolymer of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) and 5-(2-ethylhexyl)-1,3-bis(9-methyl-9H-carbazol-3-yl)-5H-thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (CzPDICz) was electrochemically synthesized using different monomer feed ratios. The resulting copolymer films were investigated in terms of their electrochemical and electro-optical behaviors. Properties of the obtained copolymer films through different monomer feed ratios were compared to each other and to individual poly(ethylenedioxythiophene; PEDOT) and homopoly...
THE OXIDATION OF BETA-ALKOXYCYCLOPENTENONES AND BETA-ALKOXYCYCLOHEXENONES TO ALPHA'-ACYLOXY DERIVATIVES USING MANGANESE(III) ACETATE IN COMBINATION WITH CARBOXYLIC-ACIDS
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; SAYRAC, T; WATT, DS (1990-12-01)
The alpha-oxidation of cyclic derivatives of beta-alkoxy-alpha, beta-unsaturated ketones using manganese (III) acetate in the presence of various carboxylic acids provided a convenient synthesis of 5-acyloxy-3-alkoxy-2-cyclopentenones and 6-acyloxy-3-alkoxy-2-cyclohexenones.
Synthesis and characterization of conducting copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole
Sahmetlioglu, E; Yuruk, H; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Cianga, I; Yagci, Y (2004-12-01)
Graft copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole were synthesized by electrochemical polymerization methods. Poly(vinyl alcohol) with thiophene side-groups (PVATh) was obtained from the reaction between poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and thiophene-3-acetic acid. The syntheses of copolymers Of PVATh and pyrrole were achieved electrochemically by using three different supporting electrolytes, p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluo...
Preparation of conductive polybenzoxazines by oxidative polymerization
Kiskan, Baris; Yagci, Yusuf; Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 2007-03-15)
precursors were prepared by oxidative polymerization 3-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[e][1,3] oxazine (P-a) alone and in the presence of thiophene (Th) with ceric ammonium nitrate in acetonitrile. The structure of the precursors was confirmed by FTIR, H-1 NMR, and DSC measurements, indicating the presence of a cyclic benzoxazine structure, together with small but varying amount of a ring opened phenolic structure. The resulting polymers exhibit conductivities around 10(-2) S cm(-1) and undergo thermal curing a...
